-Out Of Time- (Part 4, Final Part)
-Inside a Taxi travelling to New York, Des Moines, Iowa-
Rob tugged at the seatbelt that was strapped into its holder, and fastened there so that he couldn’t pull it out. Rob was scared, he’d already seen what the Car Murderer could do. The man was damn near invincible, and now he was most likely driving them to another hideout, or something like that. Beside him, Tara screamed at the Car Murderer.
Tara Langdon
What are you doing?! Where are you taking us?
The Car Murderer spoke in a slurred tone.
Car Murderer
Don’t worry my pretty, I’m taking you to a place where both you and your little boyfriend can be happy...
Rob looked back at Tara. This wasn’t good. This wasn’t good at all. Rob looked out the window; they were being driven back into town. Rob could see various houses and stores that he’d seen on the way down here, when he first began looking for the infamous Car Murderer. He should have been more careful, the Car Murderer was a dangerous, dangerous man, and he should have been much more prepared. Rob looked over at Tara. She looked like she had given up, like she had no more energy left. Rob held her hand, and whispered to her.
Rob Langdon
I promise we’ll get out of this.
Tara smiled at him, and then whispered back.
Tara Langdon
I believe in you...
Suddenly, the Car Murderer swung into a left hand turn, and then began driving towards the beach! Rob and Tara stared at him, and then back at each other. The Car Murderer turned back to face them.
Car Murderer
Feel like a little swim, my flies?!
The Car Murderer laughed madly. He was going to drive them into the ocean! He was going to drown them in the car! How mad is this guy? Rob thought, is he going to drown himself as well? And then Rob saw something that mad his blood run cold. The Car Murderer opened glove box on the passenger side, and pulled out a heavy rectangular orange object: a brick. Rob stared at it in horror. He tried to reach forward, and grab the Car Murderer, but the seatbelt was too strong. The Car Murderer laughed at his attempt, and then lifted his feet off of the gas pedal, and dropped the brick onto it. They started moving faster, and the Car Murderer laughed madly.
Car Murderer
See you in hell!
Then he jumped out of the door, and landed outside on the warm sand, whipping it up all around him. Rob looked back at him, and then looked back out of the windscreen, and saw the water right up ahead of them. The car slammed into the water, driving at phenomenal speed. Pretty quickly they were underwater, the world around them turned to a light hue of blue. Water started leaking into the car via the air-conditioner fan. Rob looked around himself, and fear started filling him. It was all happening too fast...they were starting to lose air. Rob looked around frantically, trying to find something to cut open his seatbelt. He looked over at Tara. The water was nearly up to their necks now, and it was rising fast. Rob was taller than Tara, so it would be obvious who’s head would go under first. Suddenly, Rob remembered something. His knife! He could feel it in his pocket. He wiggled his hips, trying to get the knife out. The water was nearly over Tara’s mouth, but only up to Rob’s chin.
And then suddenly, his knife fell out of his pocket, and onto the seat. He grabbed it with his hand, and started gingerly cutting the seatbelt. It was hard work, considering he could only use one hand, but eventually he got it off. The water was now over Tara’s head, and she was struggling for air! Rob quickly swam over, and, with both hands, quickly cut Tara’s seatbelt, and together they swam up to the surface. The water wasn’t very far down from the roof of the car now, leaving only room for their heads. Both of them surfaced, and gasped for air.
Rob Langdon
Are you ok?
Tara Langdon
Yeah...yeah...how are we going to get out of here?
Rob Langdon
Good question...
Rob looked around at the enclosed space of the car. All of the windows were up, and all the doors locked. He could see only one solution: he would have smash one of the windows.
Rob Langdon
Stay away, I’ve got to smash one of the windows.
Tara Langdon
Ok, be careful...
Rob nodded, and then dived underwater, before swimming toward one of the passenger windows. Then, with all the force that he could muster underwater, he swung his arm forward, and punched straight through the window. The window shattered, and Rob held his hand in pain. He swam back up to the surface. There was barely enough room for their heads now.
Rob Langdon
Ok, follow me babe.
Tara Langdon
Ok...
Rob ducked under water, and carefully swam through the cracked window. Rob looked back and motioned for Tara to follow him. She did, and slowly made it out of the car, through the big hole in the window. She and Rob then swam toward the surface, the cold biting at both of them. Just when it seemed that they wouldn’t make it, they broke the surface, and began breathing in as much air as possible. Rob looked around him. They were out pretty far, in fact, there was a red buoy not too far away, to the right of them. Rob turned back to Tara.
Rob Langdon
Come on; follow me over to this buoy.
Rob and Tara swam over to the red buoy. The current was mild, but Rob wasn’t ready to take any chances. After a few moments of swimming, they made it to the buoy, and climbed up onto it. Tara shivered, and Rob held her close to him. Rob noticed that it was getting dark-how were they going to get back to shore? He knew they wouldn’t be able to swim, the tide would be too strong at this time of the day. Rob sighed, and sat down on the edge of the buoy. Tara sat down with him.
Rob Langdon
What’re we going to do...
Rob looked at his mobile. It wasn’t working. He groaned, and rested his head against the buoy. They rested for a while, looking back at the far away shore, before Tara said something.
Tara Langdon
You were true to your word, you know that baby?
Rob Langdon
How?
Tara Langdon
You know, when you said, when you promised, that you’d get us out of that. And you did, so thanks babe.
Tara kissed him, but just as they did, Rob heard a boat approaching. He turned back to the sea, and saw the Car Murderer coming towards them on a boat. He had an evil smile on his face, and was staring straight at them. As he came closer, Rob stood up, as did Tara, Rob had no idea what the Car Murderer had in store for them this time. All that was on his mind was the knife he had in his pocket, and how he could use it. The Car Murderer drove his boat right up to the buoy. It was a silver boat with a motor at the back, which the Car Murderer had just been steering. The Car Murderer stopped the boat, and then stood up, and looked at them again.
Car Murderer
My, my, you are hard to kill aren’t you. I’ll make a note of that-Langdon’s are hard to kill!
Rob Langdon
What do you want now? You still want to kill me? Look, I’m not trying to kill you anymore, ok. That’s over. Can’t you just accept that?
The Car Murderer laughed.
Car Murderer
No, I’ll never accept that. I enjoyed the pleasure of killing your brother, and now you will be my final victim!
The Car Murderer then pulled a gun out of his pocket, it looked like a pistol, and pointed it at Rob. He laughed as he did so, tensing his finger on the trigger.
Car Murderer
Nowhere to hide, Rob...Let me teach you a lesson right here and now...
Rob frowned, and looked around himself. He could see no possible escape. He had to get Tara out of the way. He didn’t want to drag her down with her. Rob leant in next to her ear, and whispered in it.
Rob Langdon
If he shoots at me, try to swim away or something.
Tara frowned at him.
Car Murderer
You can’t cheat death!
Rob closed his eyes, and heard a gunshot. But strangely he didn’t feel any pain at all. Then he realised the bullet had bounced off of something. Rob opened his eyes, and saw that the Car Murderer had turned around, and now there was a bullet hole in the side of his boat. Rob looked past him, and saw two police boats, with the Iowa Police Force standing on them. One of them was holding a loudspeaker, and speaking into it.
Police Officer 1
It’s over, Car Murderer, give yourself up!
The Car Murderer just grinned, and Rob could see what he was about to do. He was about to gun the engine, and get out of here. He was about to speed right away, and be on the run again. It made Rob furious, he couldn’t stand that the madman serial killer was going to live to kill another day. Rob couldn’t contain himself. He whispered in Tara’s ear again.
Rob Langdon
Wait here...
And then he jumped off of the buoy, just as the Car Murderer turned on the motor, and the boat began moving. Rob just caught on to the top of the motor, and hung on as the boat roared across the sea, away from the police boats. Rob knew the police boats would follow, but he could easily tell they wouldn’t catch up any time soon. The Car Murderer’s boat was fast. Really fast. Rob peeked over the side of the motor. The Car Murderer wasn’t looking back, instead he was looking forward, steering the boat toward somewhere. Rob wondered where he could possibly be going. His house was destroyed, and as far as Rob knew so was Car Murderer’s car. But this guy was mad, he had to have another sort of hideout. Well, Rob decided, even if he did have another hideout, he wouldn’t have time to reach it. With the water whipping his face, Rob pulled out his knife from his pocket. Then he reached up, and grabbed the Car Murderer’s head, pressing his knife to his throat.
Car Murderer
What-
Rob Langdon
Turn yourself in right now, or I swear to god I will cut your damn head off!
The Car Murderer gasped for air, but laughed at the same time. He stared at Rob madly. Both of them were now drenched in sea water.
Car Murderer
Do it then Rob! Cut my head off! Go on, I killed your brother, remember?!
Rob wanted to, but he just couldn’t bring himself to do it. Daniel wouldn’t have wanted him to kill this man, Dan would have wanted him to do the right thing, and put the Car Murderer in his place. Rob had been so blinded by rage when he’d first found out that this man had killed his brother, that he hadn’t thought of what the actual right thing to do would be. So he was going to rectify himself now. He’d put himself and his wife in mortal danger by deciding to hunt down the Car Murderer, and he was now going to end the whole thing. More than that, he was going to do the right thing. So Rob, instead of cutting the Car Murderer’s head off, grabbed the dial on the boat’s motor that turned the speed higher or lower, and turned it right down, until the motor shuddered, and shut off, and an eerie silence filled Rob’s ears.
He looked at the Car Murderer, who stared back at him, and frowned, confused. Rob climbed back into the boat, and dragged the Car Murderer with him. The Car Murderer spluttered.
Car Murderer
What-what...what are you doing?
Rob Langdon
I’m doing something that I should have done a long time ago.
Car Murderer
Wha...
Rob Langdon
I’m turning you in, Car Murderer. Hope you have a nice cell.
And then, as if on cue, the two police boats pulled up on either side of the Car Murderer’s boat. Rob lifted his free hand into the air, to show that he was a friendly. He saw one of the policemen get out, and jump onto the Car Murderer’s boat, shaking it slightly. Rob looked up at him.
Rob Langdon
He’s all yours, officer.
Police Officer 2
Thanks, we’ve been trying to catch this guy for years!
Rob Langdon
No problem.
Rob let the officer handcuff the Car Murderer, who was strangely silent, as if in shame of his first defeat. Rob looked back over to where Tara stood on the buoy out at sea. She was smiling, and waving at him. Rob waved back, and then walked over to the other police boat. A police officer was standing on it, his gun trained on the Car Murderer. Rob looked up at him.
Rob Langdon
After you’ve finished up with this guy, you wouldn’t mind picking up my wife over there, and then giving us a lift back to shore?
Police Officer 1
Sure, no problem.
Rob Langdon
Thanks.
Rob watched as the officers lifted up the Car Murderer, who just stared at Rob, a cold hard stare, as if to say “I’ll be back”. Rob knew he wouldn’t be back. The police would put him in a maximum security prison, after all the people he’d killed. After murdering a minor. Rob just smiled jokingly at him, and waved him away. The officers lifted him into the boat, and sat him in a chair. Then they drove away, and the last image Rob saw of the Car Murderer was him staring at him with those big dark eyes. Rob watched the boat drive away back to shore.
Police Officer 1
Are you coming?
Rob turned around, and saw the other police officer looking at him, waiting for him to enter the boat. Rob smiled.
Rob Langdon
Yeah.
Rob hopped onto the boat, and sat down in a seat. He held onto it as the officer drove away from the Car Murderer’s boat, and began driving toward the buoy, which Tara was standing on. She grinned as she saw the police boat pull up next to her, and Rob stretch out his hand. She took his hand, and Rob pulled her into the boat.
Tara Langdon
You caught him! You got him baby!
Rob Langdon
Hell yeah I did!
Tara smiled, and they began kissing. The police officer turned to look back at them, and shook his head. He looked back, and began driving them back to shore...

Where are you Dylan? Are you scared? You should be. Revolution is only days away, and it could be your final match! Dylan, I’ve got bigger things to focus on than you. At Dangerous by Design I have to put my title on the line inside the triple cage, against eight other men. Do you think I really have enough time to concentrate on this match with you? I could be preparing for that Triple Cage match right now, but I can’t. I have to wait for Revolution so I can beat you up, and end your career. Damn it Dylan, I need you to show me that you really need this. Come on man; give me everything you’ve got.
:At least try, I mean, this could be your last match!:
Shadow Demon
I want you to at least make me sweat a little in our match. Seriously, I’ll feel bad if I just have to go out there, beat the shit out of you, and end your career on a sour note. NLWF needs wrestlers, and I’d feel bad eliminating you, one of the most promising new wrestlers, and a member of Salvation. But if you can’t prove yourself to be good enough, then bad luck: this will be your last match. And it’ll be my job to send you crying home to mummy.
:I’m sorry Dylan, but this will be your last Revolution:
