I had been invited to one of the press gigs for the upcoming event ‘City of Evil’ featuring Nick Ridicule versus James Shark and the intense three way between Brenton Cyrus, Death Angel, and Carver Ocean. Obviously those were the big matches that everyone wanted to see, so my involvement in this little press gig was nothing more then standing around watching as the others did there thing. Sooner or later I’d be a big enough to star to get up there and do my thing but for now I was a nameless face on the sidelines, heck not even one person had noticed me the entire time. But I wasn’t too worried about it, after this event they’d know who I was because I was determined to make sure they took notice of me. I was so deep into my own thoughts that I didn’t notice someone tapping me on my shoulder, turning around I looked across at the person in front of me.

It was there that I saw you

City of Evil could not come soon enough. The 24/7 crew had been up my ass and around the corner since I signed the contract to be on the show. I knew exactly what NLWF was trying to do to me in this match. They were going to feed me to the Shark, literally and figuratively. But what they don’t know is how far I’m willing to go to be the NLWF Champion. I wasn’t about to let my torch get taken again by some prick who can‘t even carry my jockstrap. I’ve let the NLWF title get whored around in the past and it was time for a dominant reign that would be remembered forever.

Today though was different. Despite being stalked by guys with cameras, I felt a way I hadn’t in a long time. I walked with a confidence I hadn’t felt since I was in my prime way back when. NLWF wasn’t just surviving, it was thriving. In less than a month it seemed as if NLWF had never left at all.

I handled my business with the press conference, playing the role of Nick Ridicule to get the fans into the match. The people hated Nick Ridicule now, as much as they loved him when he was on top. But for the first time since this match was announced, I found myself distracted.

She was like no one I had ever seen before. My heart started to race as soon as I saw her. I had to do my best to ignore her during the press conference, but afterward, I saw her standing alone. I looked over to the cameramen who had taken a break following the conference. Finally the cameras were off of me and I could get away. I slowly snuck away from them walking to the bathroom. I took a sharp turn before entering and followed next to some guy.

Hey how’s it going..

I was away from the cameramen and had a clear shot at talking to her. I took a step and suddenly a rush of things filled my head to say. I couldn’t just choose one so I took a step back. This could be my only opportunity to meet her, I have to just give it a go. I walk up to her slowly, exhale as I tap her on the shoulder. She turns around and looks me in the eye, my heart skips a beat. I hear here say “Hi” and it's like the sweetest sound I've ever heard. Suddenly I have nothing to say. I just let my tongue go..

I didn’t even know where that came from. I wait for her to reply, expecting to get slapped.

Meeting A Star?

When I turned around this man was the last person I expected to see and I found myself a little bewildered, quickly finding myself staring at him shocked. This was the man who was the Main Event; this was the man that was the star of the show. He was the one who’s face was plastered all over the poster for the event, I probably looked like a fool. Standing there letting my mouth drop a bit, not too far that I looked insane but enough that it was weird. This was Nick Ridicule, one of NLWF’s biggest stars and someone I as a fan had been looking into a lot the past few weeks. I’d never met a wrestler of his caliber before and even though I should probably have kept my cool and tried to play it off like it wasn’t a big deal I just couldn’t. Finally I cut the dead air with some words that I had to force from my lips.

“I um…I um was just invited to watch…”

Completely ignoring the pretty thing comment of his, I hadn’t even given it much thought yet. Surely he had not even the slightest clue who I was, so that’s what made it weird he’d approach me. Not like I really stood out in the crowd, surely he wasn’t hitting on me right? Maybe he just did know me; maybe he saw my picture on the roster page. I didn’t know what it was but I just found myself staring up at him, he was a really tall guy.

“I’m…I am Alice Wright…You are Nick Ridicule!”

I realized immediately how lame I sounded, as I wanted to go and hide as soon as I could. Here I was making a fool of myself in front of one of the biggest stars in NLWF. He probably hated lame fans like me, I played with the bottom of my dress as I looked at the ground then back at him waiting for his reply expecting him to just walk away and leave me to my embarrassment.

Her mouth opened but no words came out. She just stood, mouth agape, starry eyed looking back at me. For the first time in as long as I could remember, I smiled a genuine smile as I looked down at her.

“I um…I um was just invited to watch…”

I could tell she was as nervous as I was, which made things a lot easier. I still had that butterfly feeling in my stomach, but now they were all working together to help me out.

“I’m…I am Alice Wright…You are Nick Ridicule!”

Right… I was Nick Ridicule.. The realization that my hair was mohawked and that I was a celebrity suddenly came back to me. Nick Ridicule. My Curse.

Hi I’m Al…

I couldn’t tell her the truth, not yet anyway.

Nick Ridicule
Yes, you are right Alice, I am Nick Ridicule.

I looked over at the cameramen finishing up the snack they were having. They realized I was gone and were looking around, picking up their cameras to start filming again.

Nick Ridicule
Alice, how good at you at hide and seek?

I didn’t let her answer, instead I grabbed her hand and we ran as fast as we could. As tiny as she was, she was fast. I looked back to see the cameraman had noticed us and were starting to hurry after us.

Nick Ridicule
Just trust me okay, we have to hide from those three!

We kept running, avoiding people as we made our escape.

He caught me completely off guard as he tugged me with him, quickly I started running along with him. I don’t really know why I did; I liked to live in the moment and right now following him seemed like a good idea. His size was mostly the thing pulling me along as he looked back to see how far away we were as I focused on where we were going. I couldn’t help but have a big smile on my face, it was fun. We ran around into where everyone was parked as he turned and slipped in between two cars, leading me in front of the car as he ducked down with me. I kept my head low as he gave a little glimpse as all we could do was hear the camera man talking.

Camera Man
“Where’d he go?”

I had a smile on my face looking up at him as he looked around making sure they weren’t going to see us. The three men all having a look as I almost busted up laughing only barely able to bite my tongue. Apparently being the star and having all that media coverage wasn’t all that great if he was so eager to get away. It seemed understandable after all; having cameras following you all day had to suck. I just wasn’t sure why exactly he brought me along for the ride. The camera men seemed to give up heading back the way of the Press Conference and as soon as they were out of distance I spoke up.

“Are they that bad?”

I giggled a bit, this just all seemed so crazy and weird. A second ago I was star struck then a moment later he’s pulling me away to hide from some camera man. The Press Conference was fun to watch but this made things even more enjoyable as I waited for his answer, finding myself unable to remove the smile.

I pulled her along, although she was able to keep up most of the run. As I continued to look back, I noticed a smile on her face. Was she having a good time? This was my kind of girl. We continued to run, then almost simultaneously stopped as we noticed the parking area. We hurried by cars that were pulling out, then slipped between two cars still parked. I lead Alice to the front of the car and motioned to stay down, but she was already so low, being so tiny. I gave a lookout, then slouched back down looking at Alice. I thought we would be caught for sure.

Camera Man
“Where’d he go?”

I let out a sigh of relief, still looking at Alice who was smile once again. I half smiled back at her, then peered around the vehicle again to see the three men looking around dumbfounded. I smiled and almost laughed, trying to keep my composure, then looked at Alice who was biting her tongue, probably doing the same thing. We watch as they started to walk back where they started, as if we were going to return to the press conference. I looked at Alice again who spoke.

“Are they that bad?”

I nodded my head.

Nick Ridicule
They're Worse.

She giggled and adorable giggle. I smiled and held out my hand offering to help her up.

Nick Ridicule
You sure are good at hide and seek!

She extended her hand and I helped her up. I didn’t let go of her hand though, instead turning around, pulling her past car after car. I looked back at her, still moving.

Nick Ridicule
Come on, I have an idea where we could hide next!

We rushed past car after car, then turned as a car pulled out of its spot. We followed the car, using it as a shield, then we hurried off to the Vegas strip. I held up my arm and began to wave it.

Nick Ridicule
I hope this works..

As soon as I say it a limousine pulls up in front of us. I open the door for Alice and look at her.

Nick Ridicule
I know we just met, but do you want to keep me company? I need my hide and seek partner or they’ll surely find me.

I smile at her as she looks into the limo, then back at me.

Things were progressing fast as we moved along our way to the limo. I was really not expecting to be doing anything like this today; it was supposed to be a boring one in fact. All the sudden I was getting pulled along with this man who I only really knew from the shows I had seen and the matches I had watched. You know I was a little shocked, from everything I saw from everything I’d heard I was not expecting him to be this nice. I was not expecting him to be this playful and relaxed guy that was standing in front of me. I mean he was still clearly a star, he literally just waved his arm and a limo drove up…I’d be lucky if a cab even stopped for me. I didn’t waste any time at all in answering him, this was already turning out to be a much better time then I expected and I wasn’t about to turn it down anytime soon.

“I’d love to.”

Sure the hide and seek line was a little corny but it was cute, I crawled into the limo. I wasn’t poor nor rich growing up but I’d never been in a limo that looked this nice. I took a seat as I got in, waiting for him to get in behind me as he did taking a seat next to me.

Alice Wright
“You know some how I think getting in a limo is sort of against hide and seek rules? Doesn’t seem very fair.”

I again giggled, ah screw it I was getting into the little hide and seek lines as well now. As I sat back the Driver waited for us to tell him where we were going, having absolutely no clue about anything in Vegas I gave a look over at Nick letting him decide.

“I’d love to.”

Her words warmed my heart. The last ten minutes with her suddenly became the best part of my year so far, the best part of the last couple of years I’ve had. I watched as she got into the limo, unable to stop myself from checking her out as she entered. I caught myself though and looked around instead, making sure we hadn’t been seen. I followed her into the limo, pulling the door shut behind me. I sat next to her as she looked around the back of the limo.

“You know some how I think getting in a limo is sort of against hide and seek rules? Doesn’t seem very fair.”

She giggled as she bantered back.

Nick Ridicule
I don’t think spontaneous games of hide and seek have rules. They just sort of happen. But I would say it’s fair, we are hiding inside this limo after all, it’s not us who is driving it away.

I smiled at her, then looked at the driver who was looking at us in his mirror. I thought about where we should hide next and two places came to mind.

Nick Ridicule
Hey take us…

I looked at Alice as she eagerly waited for me to give the driver direction. I winked at her, then hurried to the front. I whispered to the driver, looking at Alice who crossed her arms. I gave him the directions and went back to sit with her again, this time sitting on a side seat near the door.

Nick Ridicule
It’s a surprise, but I think you’ll love it considering you know who I am..

I reached into the ice box and pulled out a couple of Pepsi’s, holding one out, offering it to Alice.

Nick Ridicule
Thirsty?

As I asked, one of the cameramen suddenly slammed into the side of the limo. The driver sped off as he tried to open the door.

I looked out the window amazed at the effort level of these camera man, Jeez they were not going to give up were they? I guess they took there job seriously, like too seriously. I shook it off looking back at Nick as he offered up a Pepsi to me, I reached out taking it. I was pretty thirsty after the events that had just happened. After all I was not prepared for some stuff like this to happen.

“Thanks.”

I opened it up taking a sip of it, setting it down in one of the cool little coasters they had on the side as I watched as we drove through Vegas. This city was truly amazing and even though I was too young to enjoy a lot of the crazier parts, I am sure Nick’s plan was a good one. I hope he didn’t think I was some sort of stalker and takes me to his house or something, I don’t know him that well. But alas it should be fun.

“Are we there yet?”

Teasing him a bit like a little child as the limo driver continues to drive on, as I waited for this big star’s response. I still wasn’t even sure if he knew I was actually on the NLWF roster.

I watched as the cameraman hit the limo, full bodied. What he was thinking, I have no idea, but it was a valiant effort non the less. HBO must have been paying these guys a lot for some of the things they were willing to do. He almost managed to open the door as the limo pulled past him, but he was no ninja, despite his best efforts. Alice snatched the soda from my hand.

“Thanks.”

It was at that moment I had finally realized what I had done. I was with a complete stranger. Really the only thing I knew about this girl was that she had a unique style that caught my attention and her name. Now I was taking her off to my favorite place in Sin City. We had only just met before we were running, hiding, and now getting away in a limo. I opened my soda and took a sip.

“Are we there yet?”

I looked at Alice, who was clearly kidding around, a playful look on her face.

Nick Ridicule
Yes we are! That’s why we’re still moving! I figure we’ve already escaped those crazy cameramen, now lets jump from a moving vehicle.

I smiled, my sarcasm emanating back at her.

Nick Ridicule
Ladies first.

I chuckled slightly.

Nick Ridicule
So Alice, tell me something about you that no one else knows.

I look at her anticipating her response, then reach down and press the button rolling up the front window so that the driver can't listen to our conversation.

I chuckled at his little jokes; he didn’t seem like the ruthless killer of a fighter that I had pictured in my head. I guess outside the ring guys like Ridicule and Shark weren’t as menacing as they were inside of it, at least when you were on there good side as I appeared to be. I’d been wanting to make friends with people in NLWF for awhile now I just would have never guessed it would have been one of the top guys like Ridicule.

Alice Wright
“Something nobody else knows?”

I rubbed my chin thinking of what would be an interesting enough fact as the window finished rolling up as I shrugged my shoulders then decided to tell him something that I probably shouldn’t have, but decided to anyways.

Alice Wright
“Well then. I guess, I’ve never actually had a boyfriend…or even anything close.”

I realized that it was probably a bit much as soon as I said it. It wasn’t as though I didn’t have guys hit on me, or even that it wasn’t something I wanted. I was just always so focused on wrestling training that I never met a guy that I felt was worth it.

Alice Wright
“What about you?”

I quickly countered trying to take the subject off of what I just told him and back onto him as I asked the same thing of him, wondering what he might have to say.

This was so fun and exciting, but I couldn’t help but wonder all about Alice. She was so mysterious, so intriguing to me. Someone willing to go on a spontaneous adventure with someone they only knew from TV.

“Something nobody else knows?”

I could tell she had to put some thought into it, because she began stroking her little chin. It was a great question. If I knew something about her that no one else knew, it would mean she trusts me and that I can trust her as well.

“Well then. I guess, I’ve never actually had a boyfriend…or even anything close.”

I looked at her in shock, then looked away to take another drink of my soda. Clearly she was trying to tell me to make a move right? I looked at her again, so innocent, untainted by the evils that had tainted me.

“What about you?”

I look away from her again as she asks. I couldn’t give her a direct answer, where would the fun in that be? I smirked and shot back.

No, never had a boyfriend either or anything close to a boyfriend! What is it we’re doing wrong?

I winked at Alice.

Nick Ridicule
I was part of tag teams, so I’ve had partners... But I don’t think that counts…

Before I continue fooling around, the limousine comes to a stop and the front window rolls down revealing the driver again.

Driver
We are here.

Nick Ridicule
Great, just wait for us!

It was obvious the driver wasn’t going to get out and open our door, effectively cutting his tip in half. I opened our door and stepped out first, then reached my hand out. Alice grabbed on tight as I helped her up and out.

Nick Ridicule
Welcome to Sin City Arena! Home of many legendary NLWF events, including City of Evil in 2010 and soon to be the home of City of Evil 2012!

I held my arms out displaying the arena behind me in the distance. I grabbed her hand again and walked with her casually toward the arena.

Nick Ridicule
No reason to run now, but if you see any guys with camera’s, don’t hesitate to pull me along.

I winked at her again as we got closer to the front of the arena, where all the fans would be filling in come November 10th. I thought about her answering my question, putting herself on the line like that, just for me to give her a joke of an answer.

Nick Ridicule
You know, you should be proud you’ve never had a boyfriend or anything close. Shows just how independent you are. That you don’t need anyone else to show you who you are, ya know? I respect that.

I gave her a genuine smile before we started to walk around the arena.

Nick Ridicule
Truth is.. I’ve never, really, had a girlfriend.. Nick has, I mean, I have, once… She… Hmmmm. We were each others first everything.. Technically speaking..

It was awkward talking about an experience that wasn’t actually felt by me. When Nick Ridicule was in control of our body, it was like a totally different person. I can still remember being trapped deep in the confines of my own mind while he dominated the outside world.

Hey, you wanna go inside? Before you answer that.. How old are you? I didn't just accidentally kidnap you did I?

I was a little offended he didn’t give me something back after I told him a rather embarrassing fact about me, though he was nice enough to put a nice spin on it. I looked in awe at the arena that I was going to wrestle in a few weeks at. I still had no idea if he even realized I was on the roster but I did know that if he was going to joke around with me I’d joke right around back.

Alice Wright
“Oh I actually turn seventeen in a few weeks.”

I said this looking as serious as possible as I could pretty much tell he had to be regretting all of what had happened considering there was a little flirting going on even if we’d both deny it. I let it sink in a bit as we walked towards the arena until I decided to pull the plug on it, realizing it was a bit mean.

“I’m kidding, I am eighteen don’t worry. You didn’t kidnap me. Unless this is some really grand scheme to bring me to your hide out.”

I had a chuckle at his expense feeling as though I had successfully gotten him back for his earlier poke at me as I continued to walk alongside him towards the arena as I looked over at him with a grin.

“I’d love to go inside, get acclimated before the big day.”

I said it without really thinking about it, guessing he may be able to put two and two together unless he happened to think that I had gotten tickets, which was really a likely situation as well. I looked over at him, waiting to see what he’d have to show me as we reached the entrance.

OH SHIT! I knew things were too good to be true. I just had to act cool. I was just making a new friend, a new friend I would have to bring back to where the press conference was held so that I could calmly explain to her parents that what happened was a foolish misunderstanding. I just hope she’s not the type to cry wolf.. I just kept walking awkwardly silent around the arena, thinking of some sort of excuse to cut our time together short.

“I’m kidding, I am eighteen don’t worry. You didn’t kidnap me. Unless this is some really grand scheme to bring me to your hide out.”

She got me good, enough to make me laugh. Walked myself right into that one the same way she did back in the limo. She sure was proud of herself, giggling at me, a grin almost from ear to ear on her face as we walked side by side.

“I’d love to go inside, get acclimated before the big day.”

Awww, you spoiled my grand scheme! This IS my secret hideout! I’ve been living in the Sin City Arena since the last City of Evil!

It was clear she was wise to my sarcasm now, then I took in what she said. I was confused. “Acclimated before the big day?” She sounded as if she were the one in the main event. Did she think I was going to invite her? Did she think that I did invite her? She seemed so sure of herself.

Nick Ridicule
Darn though, Guess I’ll have to cross, stopping by the real secret hideout, off our list of things to do today. Probably for the best, I'm not sure you could of handled the awesomeness of said hideout. You know what I say, while the cameramen are away, Ridicule and Wright will play!

We made it to the back entrance of the arena where wrestlers and the rest of the crew would typically enter. I looked at Alice still following me, I still had so many questions for her, but I didn't want to overwhelm her with my curiosities.

Nick Ridicule
Alice in Wonderland, you told me you were invited to watch the press conference today. Were you invited to City of Evil as well? Let me guess, you won the “I am Nick Ridicule‘s Biggest Fan” contest? Based on your accent I would say you’re from the UK, plus the way you look around with such wonder and amazement in everything, I know you’re not from Vegas. What did you mean by "get acclimated?"

I reached into my pocket, pulling out my little black bag. I opened it and removed my lock pick kit, then got to work on the back door as I waited for Alice to fill me in.

I had gotten him so good with that little joke about my age; I could practically hear him shriveling up on the inside as soon as I said it. I guess I really didn’t expect him to know who I was, I am sure there wasn’t really much to be said about a new girl entering the business from the NLWF’s front. I am pretty sure Cyrus probably wouldn’t even recognize me if we were in a room together, but alas I figured I’d bring it up finally. Maybe I could get some tips from him at the least.

“Well I am actually a member of the NLWF roster…I am fighting Sheyenne Successful on the first show.”

I shrugged my shoulders; I wasn’t really that big of a deal. Especially not compared to him, he was the show I was just another spoke on the wheel as they’d say. I was interested to see what he thought--Wait was he really picking the lock? That’s great now we were breaking in. I am sure Cyrus wouldn’t punish him because he’s the star but I was just an extra…Ah he probably had enough pull to get me out of trouble.

With my back turned as I picked at the lock, I waited anxiously for her response.

“Well I am actually a member of the NLWF roster…I am fighting Sheyenne Successful on the first show.”

My eyes grew wide as she dropped that bombshell on me at the same time I was able to pick the lock open. The door to the Sin City Arena backstage area had opened, only darkness coming from inside. I slowly turned around to look at Alice, an innocent smile gracing her face.

Don’t worry, I used to do this more than I like to admit.

I hold my hand out and she places her hand in mine, letting me once again lead the way.

Nick Ridicule
So, helping me void part of my HBO contract, breaking and entering. Before I wouldn’t have ever believed you were a wrestler for the NLWF, but now?

We entered the Sin City arena hand in hand, the door shutting behind us. It was very eerie and spooky in a lot of ways, but as I looked at Alice she seemed to make everything, just feel better.

Nick Ridicule
This is the first time I’ve been here since the last City of Evil…

We made our way through the ghost town of a backstage area. It was obvious no one had bothered cleaning up after that fateful night as flyers of me lay on the ground at my feet.



Everything I saw brought with it a rush of painful memories. We past by the exit into the parking structure, inside blown up bits and pieces of monster trucks.

Nick Ridicule
Wow…

Two years had passed since that night, yet everything was still exactly the same as it was back then. I sacrificed myself for nothing, contributed only to the death of the company I had loved with all my heart and now here I was to face the demons of my past, of Nick Ridicule’s past.

Nick Ridicule
…I wont make the same mistakes this time…

I mumbled to myself, almost forgetting that Alice was on this adventure with me. She gave a squeeze on my hand, reminding me of her presence.

Nick Ridicule
Apologies.. Too many memories here.. Got.. Distracted.

I looked at her, staring deeply into her eyes as we stood in the hardly lit up hallway. I had to shake it off. She was as distracting to me as the arena we stood in. I found myself at a loss for words. I couldn’t tell if she was just being shy or was uninterested at this point, either way, I didn't want her with me unless she wanted to be with me.

Nick Ridicule
If this is lame for you, I can have the limo bring you anywhere you need to go. I don’t want to force you to hang out with lil’ ol’ me.

I smiled at her as she looked at me like I was crazy. I thought back to when I was an eighteen year old kid entering into the NLWF, how exciting and mesmerizing everything was. We kept walking down the hall together, getting closer to where I wanted to take her first.

As we walked into the building I could tell the place held a lot of memories for him and though it was a bit awkward for me, just considering how deep in his own thoughts he seemed to be. I didn’t mind, even though we were breaking and entering it was fun. He had a lot of memories here and I knew that in just a matter of a few weeks I was going to have one of my own in my very first match here in NLWF. He asked me if I wanted to go but clearly I did not, I shook my head no as I answered.

“No it’s fine this place is pretty amazing.”

I went quiet again, wanting to let him be able to think about everything he wanted to in his head as we walked along. It was clear we were heading some where but I wasn’t going to ask where, figured he would explain it all soon enough.

Pretty, more like gorgeous.. I mean this place… Amazing it is. Really a gorgeous venue..

I held my head low, just looking at the ground in front of me as we made our way down the hall. We passed by picture after picture, all with historical value pertaining to NLWF and this venue. She looked at each picture, taking a few seconds to really take in the images.

In the limo, you told me something that no one else knows about you.. I avoided the question, but now I want to tell you something about me as well..

I looked at her, then at the gorilla position table, covered in monitors and a bunch of other technical computer crap.

Hold that thought!

I rushed over to the gorilla position and took a look. I ran up the steps as fast as I could and pushed past the curtain, peering into the arena. Everything was exactly as it was left from the last City of Evil. I hurried back down the steps and took at seat at gorilla. I grabbed the headset and put it on, then looked down at all the buttons and gadgets in front of me.

Nick Ridicule
I hope I remember how all of this works.

I looked at Alice who was walking up to me.

Nick Ridicule
Ok, walk up those steps and push past that curtain.

She obliged, slowly, almost reluctantly walking up the steps toward the curtain. I watched as she did, then looked at all the display stuff in front of me. I began to play Shark Ethic, by Most Precious Blood. I held up a finger as she looked down from the steps at me. As soon as it got to main rift of the song I pointed at her and she pushed past the curtain.

On the monitor I watched as she stepped out onto the stage, looking off of it down at the broken NLWF logo, shattered into pieces. I turned on a spotlight, shining her as she stepped away from the edge of the ramp. Above the ring the God’s Playground structure hung huge, flashes of my match from that night causing a painful feeling in my skull.

I watched as Alice continued her entrance into the arena.

Meeting A Star?

I walked out from the back looking pretty foolish as I did. I had always envisioned how I’d do this in my head and even practiced it at my house. But suddenly pushed out like that I had no real way to do things. My steps were stiff and slow as I did this with suddenly no emotion, forcing it. I guess that was the difference with the big stars, they just did it naturally. But as for me I was forcing it, I tried to pretend to give a high five to a fan on the way down hoping to get a laugh from Nick back at the gorilla position however even that came out awkward. I shook my head and walked around to the side of the ring jumping up onto the ring apron.

Looking out pretending there was a crowd; I grinned then jumped over the top rope into the corner of the ring where I raised my arms high into the air. I jumped down putting my hand over my face embarrassed, as I remove it shrugging for Nick as I mouth something to him.

“That was bad…”

I continued to stand in the ring realizing just how bad it was, I was going to need to do way more then that if I was going to make fans of anyone in my first match. I waited in the ring for some sort of indication what was next for Nick. This was fun up until now as this only stood to make me even more nervous about my match as I wondered if I’d choke like I just had when the place was full.

I couldn’t help but admire her courage. I remember the first time I did an empty arena entrance and she looked far better than I’m sure I did. It was obvious though that she wasn’t feeling it, something that would drastically change once she had over fifty thousand fans screaming at City of Evil.

On her way down to the ring, she gave a high five to an imaginary fan.

That a girl!

I laughed as at least she was starting to get into it, get comfortable doing it. As she continued to pretend a crowd was watching her, she seemed to get more and more into it. Raising her arms up, pandering to the invisible audience. She jumped down and face palmed. She removed her hand from her face and shrugged. I could read her lips saying “That was bad…”

I shook my head. She really wasn’t that bad, but I could tell she didn’t feel that way. She stood in the ring, her body language showing her nervousness and just how uncomfortable she was. I smiled as I got an idea. I pressed a few things into the computer and set up a timer as fast as I could as I left Alice standing in the middle of the ring.

I hurried up the steps and waited as the music began.



The lights shut off as the timer comes to an end. The opening riffs of I by Black Sabbath begin to play, echoing through the empty arena. I step out from behind the curtain as the song picks up and the lyrics blare through the PA system. I look off the stage out at all the empty seats, flashes of the fans packing City of Evil years back going on and off.

I am anger
Under pressure
Locked in cages
A prisoner
The first to escape

I walk to the middle of the stage and stand with my arms out to the side.

I am wicked
I am legion
Strength in numbers
A lie
The number is one

I point at myself with my right thumb, then both thumbs, then my left thumb as I sing along. I put my hand on my forhead and pan across the entire arena taking everything in.

Everything that I see is for me

I continue down the ramp, confidence in each step.

I hurry up the ring steps, standing in front of the ring post.

I point at myself with my right thumb, then both thumbs, then my left thumb as I sing along again before entering the ring.

I am standing alone

I climb to the middle turnbuckle and hold my arms out to the side.

I point at myself with my right thumb, then both thumbs, then my left thumb as I scream along with the song, the same way I would at City of Evil as the people booed me, finishing by holding both arms up, forming cornas with my fingers.

On the edge of the blade
But the knife can't cut the hero down

I jump from the turnbuckle and walk to the middle of the ring where Alice is standing watching. The arena lights are now shifting between red and going off to black. I take the hand of Alice and pull her close to me, putting my other hand on her waist as I dance with her to the guitar riffs. I spin her, bring her back in and dip her in my arm.

I kinda wish I could add this part to the actual City of Evil entrance I’ve been planning.

I lift her upright and take a step back. I continue to step back as the lights are back to normal and the blood stains, my blood stains, lay on the canvas still. I back myself into the corner, my eyes wide as I didn’t even think of this when I came up with the idea. Maybe she wouldn’t notice…

Uh… So how did it feel? Not when you fell from heaven, but during your mock entrance?

Meeting A Star?

I chuckled at his little pick up line no matter how terribly corny it was. I found his dance eased my nerves a lot, it was a bit much for as little as we knew each other but at this point I didn’t mind. I was a fan of Nick already he was a very nice guy. I saw him looking down at the mat, all this meant so much more to him then it did me that was for sure. I saw the blood, his flyers, the videos, it was all him. But it was all him a long time ago, things had changed a lot since then.

“Guess you have a new start don’t you? New chance to really show everyone you’re the best in a few weeks.”

I gave him a reassuring smile, after all this blood would be cleaned up by the time he and Shark did battle. This place would look completely new and shiny as well but as I thought about how nervous I was, I realized that he had to carry the weight of the show on his shoulders and knew that he had to be even more nervous.

“I can’t wait to watch you do your thing.”

She completely disregarded my question, probably way too distracted by our sexy little dance and my incredibly clever heaven line… Yeah right.. But I was fine with her ignoring the question as I had become distracted by my history in this arena.

“Guess you have a new start don’t you? New chance to really show everyone you’re the best in a few weeks.”

She managed to bring the smile back to my face, but more of a “I know something, you don’t know” smirk than anything else. I mumbled to myself.

You have no idea…

She was right though. In just three short weeks, everything from my past would be erased. Any traces of anything that had once happened to me in this arena would be long gone, just the man I am today in the ring against the man James Shark is.

“I can’t wait to watch you do your thing.”

My thing. What exactly was, “My thing” really? To go out to City of Evil and test how much of a beating I could take? To throw caution to the wind for people who don’t care about me, most of which will be in attendance to watch me die or get KTFO or whatever they wanted. I smiled and began to nod my head. I know what “my thing” is. “My thing” is shocking the world.

Nick Ridicule
You will definitely see me do my thing.

I had no doubt in my abilities to beat James Shark in a convincing way at City of Evil.

Nick Ridicule
I can’t wait to see you do your thing either. Once I see you win your debut, I’ll know that victory is certain for me in the main event.

We shared a smile with one another. I was no longer distracted by the arena. It was like a weight was lifted off of my back, allowing me to finally stand on my own two feet for what felt like the first time in an eternity.

Nick Ridicule
Even your empty entrance was impressive. For someone who, just a little over an hour ago, was just standing around watching a press conference, you did great. It will be so much easier and come so much more naturally once the big day is here. Once you have the crowd to feed off of, you’ll be far too in the moment to be nervous or anything else.

I looked at her, then felt my pocket begin to rumble. I must have been excited to see her. The buzzing and vibrating continued and I realized it was my phone. I reached into my pocket and pulled it out, holding up a finger to say, “gimme one second”

[Hiding out in the Sin City arena?]

It was a text message from the people at HBO. How did they know where I was? How could they have found us? I looked at Alice, who looked back with concern on her face. I didn’t want to stop spending time with Alice, but if I had stayed I knew I would be caught and once again recorded. This was the first and only day I would be able to have the cameras off of me, I couldn’t let them win.

Nick Ridicule
Listen, I have plans tonight..

I didn’t know how to word anything I wanted to express or ask her. Sure, being on the same roster I could let her get away, knowing I would see her in another three weeks, but that just wasn’t good enough.

Nick Ridicule
I want to invite you to join me, but… What I have planned would classify more as a date than a random adventure with a friendly stranger. Do you want to go out with me?

I had never been so nervous. What was it about Alice that made me this way? Made me feel the way no one else was able to come close to making me feel? I was more nervous about her response than about fighting James Shark. I should remember that for a shoot. Alice Wright more intimidating to me than James Shark.

Meeting A Star?

Suddenly he was asking me out on a date? It caught me a little off guard to be sure. Even though it was clear we were flirting a lot of the time here, I guess I didn’t picture him being someone that didn’t already have a handful of girls willing to be with him; more so one’s a whole lot better then me. I was just a awkward eighteen year old, I had no clue why he’d want to go out with me considering he could have any pretty model he wanted. And even though I think calling it a “date” was a bit rushed, I still was interested in going. We had a connection for sure but this was just a day as his opponent Shark had revealed over the past few weeks, nothing was ever for sure.

“I’d love to go.”

I smiled my face turning a bit red as I answered him, I was still pretty shy at times especially in situations like this that I wasn’t used to. I brushed some hair out of my face as we stood in the ring, this was not the “battle” I was expecting to have in here first but it was a fun one regardless. Now it was up to him to decide where it was we’d go later.

“I’d love to go.”

She blushed, her cheeks flustering a rosy red color. It was adorable enough to just about make me start blushing as well. I managed to cover it up with a big cheesy smile. I must have looked like the cat that swallowed the canary. I felt so giddy I just had to jump and click my heels together, Willy Wonka style. Then I held my arm out, hooking it, flexing it for her as I did.

I hate to rush into things like this. You know what they say, fools rush in, and I’ll tell ya, I’m the biggest fool you’ll ever know. But we have to hurry, HBO found us!

She looked at my arm, probably not even listening to me, then gave it a squeeze. I smiled, then I grabbed her hand and put her arm around mine, interlocking them. We rushed to the ropes and I lifted the middle rope for her to escape the ring under. I followed her to the outside of the ring and we started to walk up the ramp, but stopped.

No, they’re coming. Lets go this way!

I interlocked arms with her again and we rushed over to the guardrail.

Nick Ridicule
May I?

I didn’t wait for a reply as I gently grabbed her at the waist and lifted her over the guardrail, then jumped over myself. I linked our arms together as we began to escape through the crowd. We ran up the steps as fast as we can, her on the right side, me on the left side, lifting linked arms every time a handrail would come up.

Wait!

I hit the proverbial brakes, stopping close to the exit. The momentum swung Alice around to my side, right next to me.

Nick Ridicule
One last look at the ring you’ll start your career in.

We stared down from the stands at the ring.

Nick Ridicule
Hopefully I was able to give you a good enough first memory, that you’ll be comfortable come City of Evil. Everything we did will come back to you and you’ll perform valiantly.

I wasn’t looking at the ring anymore, instead staring at Alice. She continued to look at the ring, breaking her focus only as I grabbed her hand. We looked eye to eye.

You’re going to be a star, I just know it, I can see it. At next years City of Evil, I’ll think back to this day as the day I was “Meeting a Star.”



Before she could say or do anything, I was off again. She was used to it by now, able to keep up, unlike when we first escaped and I was pulling her along. We exit, stepping out to the main circle around the arena, where all the fans entered and could buy food, merchandise, or whatever else that specific arena had to offer. The Sin City Arena was also a casino. We ran around making it to the main entrance.

Nick Ridicule
We should hang out again after City of Evil, I can tell you all kinds of stories about this place.

I was already making plans for us to hang out again. Something about Alice made me feel at peace for the first time in a long time. We made our exit from the arena and ran down the steps away from the arena.

Nick Ridicule
I promise we’ll be off our feet soon.

I looked at where the limo had been parked. It was still there, the problem was one of the HBO cameramen were standing in the nearby bushes, waiting for us. Me more than Alice obviously, but we were a duo at this point.

Nick Ridicule
Change of plans, I’m calling an audible.

I looked around, my eyes jumping from object to thing, searching for the best possible option. One or two of them must have gone into the arena, while the third was camped out.

Nick Ridicule
Come on, this way!

I rushed off again, but Alice was as prepared as ever, grabbing my hand tight as we switched course of direction. We made it to the main road and stopped. It would only be a matter of time before the cameraman in the bushes saw us.

Nick Ridicule
Wait for it... Wait for it...

I held my hand up, attempting a force face claw. I never doubted the magical powers of the force, the claw, or the face. As if on cue, the double decker bus pulls up in front of us. I look up and notice a bus stop sign near us.

Nick Ridicule
Hey, would you look at that!

I held my arms out and bowed my head, as if to say, “After you ma lady.” She rushed into the bus, as did I. I pulled out my wallet and pulled out a hundred, giving it to the drive.

Nick Ridicule
That’s for you my man!

We entered the bus.

Nick Ridicule
Lets go to the second floor, I have a funny idea.

So we did, hurrying up to the top of the bus. We positioned ourselves on the side where we could see the limo and the cameraman still in the bushes. I leaned in close to Alice, then began to whisper in her ear. She smelt good, so good. I almost couldn’t pull myself away. She nodded her head at me and I stood up.

Nick Ridicule
HEY! KOOL-AID! I mean... CAMERAMAN!

I waved my arms around, getting the attention of the man in the bushes. He began to record, holding up his camera, pointing it at me. As he did, I dropped down out of sight. Alice then popped up and gave him something to record.



I laughed out loud as the bus pulled away. Alice looked at me, still flipping the cameraman off. It was like she had never flipped anyone off before. The look on her face was priceless. I had to take a mental photo. I winked at her and made a camera noise as I pretended to hold up a camera. We took a seat side by side and watched as the cameraman attempted to chase us on foot, until he was nothing more than a speck in the distance.

Call me juvenile, but flipping people off still makes me laugh. Especially when I find fun and innovative ways to do so.

After I flipped him off I realized it was probably a bit of a mistake considering it was probably the first time I was going to be in a NLWF video. I shrugged it off cause I found it funny just as Nick had, as yet again we were on the escape route just narrowly sneaking onto the double decker bus to get away from the camera man…Though I probably gave them plenty to include in there little video anyways. I looked over at Nick chuckling once more about the camera man’s efforts.

“Jeez, they really are pretty dedicated.”

I was really having a lot of fun on this adventure, I had been so focused on my training and so focused on getting a wrestling career going that I didn’t have a lot of time to go out and do stuff like that. But now that I was and with the most unlikely of people, it was pretty refreshing. However all this fun was getting me a little tired as I laid my head down on his shoulder as we sat next to each other, realizing what I was doing and quickly and very awkwardly pulling up my head as I tried to think of something to make it less weird.

“Maybe we could train together some time.”

I just looked straight ahead not wanting to look him in the eyes after my little shoulder mistake. Even though it was a forced proposal it was something that I had been thinking a bit about, mostly because I knew that I needed to get better and who better to learn from then someone as big as Nick. Even though I wanted to know his answer I couldn’t bring myself to look him in the eyes.

“Jeez, they really are pretty dedicated.”

I nodded my head. She had no idea! This was shaping up to be one of the best adventures I had been on in a very long time. I was so caught up in training and filming that I was missing out on having fun! I had planned to escape from the cameraman that entire day, just so I could spend some time alone, but even better I met what seemed like the girl of my dreams and was spending this free day with her.

She leaned over resting her head on my shoulder. It felt so right, I closed my eyes and began to lower my head to lean on hers but as I did she pulled away. I shoulder bumped her a bit as I opened my eyes awkwardly sitting up straight. I couldn’t help but wonder what was on her mind. I looked at her with just my eyes, not wanting to turn toward her and make things weird.

“Maybe we could train together some time.”

It was exactly what I had been thinking about since she told me she was a member of the NLWF. I didn’t find anything sexier than a girl who could fight in the NLWF ring, nothing sexier until I met Alice. I was planning to ask her after showing her the best time of her life, but she was able to beat me to it. I finally turned to face her, looking at her, but she just stared ahead.

Alice..

I took her by her hand then wait until she looks me in the eyes. As she did I smiled at her.

Nick Ridicule
That’s a fantastic idea. We can both prepare for our big City of Evil matches. You’ll be a part of my show since they are on me all the time as you’ve seen. That will give you great exposure to a wide variety of fans. Also, I’ve been training so hard and filming so much, that spending time with you would make things better.

I continued to stare longingly into her eyes.

I finally broke my gaze, realizing I was staring at her. I looked ahead, then at her again. We shared a glance and looked away, then our eyes met in the middle again. I reached up and lightly touched her face with my hand, leaning in slowly. Before anything could happen, then bus slammed it’s brakes sending me forward. I quickly pulled myself back into the seat, then pulled Alice by her hand to lean her head on my shoulder again. We rested our hands with interlocking fingers on my lap as the bus continued.

Meeting A Star?

I had a small giggle at his expense as he was sent flying out of his chair, but as he returned back to the seat and had me lay down on his shoulder once more this time it felt right and a lot less awkward. I’d never really felt what it was like to be like this with someone before and I had to admit it did feel good. Even though me asking to train was off the top it was something that I knew would be great for me, because I’d be learning from one of the bests while also getting to spend more time with him, which at this point was probably more of a reason I wanted to then anything else. I couldn’t tell if this was just me falling for a guy so quickly because I never had before, or if that was actually the real thing. But at this point I didn’t really mind, as I laid my head against his shoulder and found myself tiring from all the enjoyment of the past couple hours. I managed to say one more thing.

As soon as I said it, my hand probably eased inside of his as I found myself slowly drifting off on his shoulder unable to manage all this excitement on a day that I really wasn’t expecting this much from. His shoulder made the perfect pillow as the ride was smooth enough for me to doze off completely.

We sat back in our bus chairs, leaning on each other. Her hair smelt of flowers or something wonderful like that. I look at our hands together on my lap. This was the most comfortable and connected I had felt with anyone in years, In just the three or so hours we had spent together in one afternoon.

Alice, I have to tell you something. I’m not really Nick Ridicule.. I’m not really Alex Mark either.. I feel as though I have found my center. I started off too far to one side, then I drifted all the way to the other side. Now I seem to have found myself back to where it all began. If you were just in this for Nick Ridicule, I have to apologize, for relying on Ridicule will only lead to disappointment.

She was still against my arm and shoulder, so I must not have scared her off too much.

Nick Ridicule
Truth is, I’m only being called Nick Ridicule because he’s the one who is famous. You take Nick Ridicule away from me and I’m just a normal guy who an incredible threshold for pain. I still know all of the moves and have all of the skills that come attached to this body, but the versions of me that once controlled things.. They’re gone.

I let out a sigh. She had to have thought I was crazy, but no one could possibly understand the things that I had been through. It was like I was the middle man of Nick Ridicule and Alex Mark. Like I had stepped outside myself, above the personalities, into a new realm of being. Alice still laid on my arm, she was taking things better than I imagined anyone would.

Nick Ridicule
You’re so understanding.

I smiled, feeling relieved.

Nick Ridicule
I promise I wont let you down.

I look at Alice who has her eyes closed. Was she sleeping? She hadn’t heard a single thing I said.

Nick Ridicule
Of course...

I could feel my phone start to vibrate again, startling me a bit. I began to squirm around, trying to remove it from my pocket. Alice suddenly sat upright, looking out in front of her wide eyed. She looked to the left, then to the right at me, giving me a smile.

Nick Ridicule
Hiya Sleeping Beauty.

Alice rubbed her eyes. Having woken Alice up, I ignored my phone, not wanting to let go of her hand.

We are almost there.

Where the hell was I? Oh My God, I’ve been kidnapped! HELP! Oh, wait nevermind I was still on the bus with Nick. I let my eyes get adjusted to the light as I shook my head rubbing my eye with my free hand the other one still in Nick’s grasp as it had been the entire time the two of us had been together seemingly. I was a little embarrassed that I’d fallen asleep as it was probably embarrassing for the both of us. I still didn’t really know where we were going but my little nap managed to give me a little more energy for whatever it was.

“Sorry about that.”

I shook my head still feeling foolish for letting myself fall asleep like that in the middle of our adventure, but he shrugged it off clearly not making as big of a deal of it as I was. Regardless I focused on what was ahead of us, our little “date”. That was going to be interesting, I hope it wasn’t too much different then what we had going because this was all great. I just hope it didn’t make things all weird.

“So where are we going?”

“Sorry about that.”

I was actually relieved she had fallen asleep. She didn’t hear me embarrass myself trying to explain that I had found a center within myself. I let out a sigh of relief.

“So where are we going?”

Nick Ridicule
We are going to my room.

I smiled looking ahead, a few seconds later the realization of what I had said had sunk in.

Nick Ridicule
No, not for that! Nick Ridicule DOES NOT put out on the first date! You’re going to have to work for it little miss!

I smirked still not looking at her. I realized once again that I avoided another question she asked. I wondered if she was getting upset about that or even more intrigued.

Nick Ridicule
Don’t worry about it, Alice. You can trust me completely. I mean, who else can you say has only your best interest at heart?

The bus stops as she’s left to ponder. I stand up, her hand still in mine, then I lead the way off the bus. We step out and look up at the massive Stratosphere Hotel in front of us.

Nick Ridicule
We are going up there!

I point up to the top of the Stratosphere. We both stare up at it, our mouths agape.



Nick Ridicule
We just have to stop by my room first. Come on.

I lead the way once again as we enter the Stratosphere Casino and Hotel lobby.



I hurried ahead, finally releasing hands with her, so I could open the door for her.

Nick Ridicule
After you my dear.

She bows her head before stepping inside. I follow in after her and look at her face as she looks around.

Nick Ridicule
Pretty amazing, right?

We both stare around. Alice looked as if she had never seen anything like this before. I took her by the hand again and we walked to the elevators. I press the button and stare at the several different elevator doors.

Nick Ridicule
Do you ever wonder how attraction works? I sure do. I mean, one of my former girlfriends that I enjoyed spending time with the most was cute and all, but she wasn’t really hot..
She just had this way about her. Like when you see someone make a gesture, or they have a certain mannerism, that you just are compelled to be attracted to. Like how a baby will look up at you with a goofy face and you just HAVE to love it!
It’s really amazing how you can just be walking through life unaware and then BAM… right here, right now, you feel that spark with someone. You just look at each other and smile and you know that something special has just started.

I finally look at Alice, a smile on my face. She looks at me, a smile on hers. It’s like the moment, time itself, stood still just for the two of us.

Which elevator is it going to be?

I hurried over to the elevator in the middle.

I looked at her, the both of us still smiling, as I waited for her to choose her elevator.

Meeting A Star?

I had to admit the hotel itself had to be the most amazing thing I had seen ever, I mean the way it was built was like something you’d see in some futuristic movie. I was glad that we were going to Nick’s room though and he didn’t assume I had the type of cash to have a room here. Sure I had gotten my signing bonus but I think a room here would pretty much burn through all my cash the first day. However his little rant as cute as it was, really only lost me as he mentioned his past girlfriend and I realized that for him this was probably not all that special. I mean he did seem to be enjoying himself but I found myself thinking about how for me this was so new while for him it was probably just mundane. I tried to shrug off those thoughts as he ran to his door, I smirked and casually walked to the elevator on the far side stopping and pointing at it with a arrogant grin thinking I’d just won.

“Boom.”

However it was him that took the victory as his elevator’s doors slowly opened as I could see a grin form on his face as I rolled my eyes, shaking my head walking slowly head down into the elevator. He leaned back against the wall with a smirk as I walked in keeping my head down, swallowing the defeat.

“Yeah, yeah whatever.”

I knew he was going to rub it in regardless as I laid back against the wall with him, allowing him to pick what floor. The amount of them actually pretty daunting as well, I wasn’t really hugely afraid of heights but I don’t think anyone liked thinking about being that high up.

“Boom.”

She walked over making her selection. The shy girl who I had been hanging out with over the past few hours, was finally starting to come out of her shell. We waited a few moments more until a ding was heard over my head. I held up one finger, then back up as the doors opened, stepping inside.

“Yeah, yeah whatever.”

I smirked as I leaned back against the elevator wall. Alice entered, her head down. Clearly she didn’t take losing well, but who did? I found myself staring at her as she refused to look at me. I was so distracted by her that I was standing by like a fool, having not pressed the floor where my room was.

The night is still young, I’m sure you’ll beat me several times over the course of our evening together. It’s once we start teaming up that I’ll know if we’re a good match.

I stepped forward and pressed the PH button. I stepped back and leaned against the wall again, next to Alice. We stood in silence, watching as the numbers went up. Finally we made it and stepped out.

I’m in the Oasis suite, this way.

I turned right out of the elevator, this time not grabbing the hand of Alice, allowing her to follow me on her own. I didn’t want to make her uncomfortable by constantly pulling her around.

That girl I mentioned was sort of a mirage of an oasis. Everything looked good on the surface, but once you got closer you could see nothing was there. I was afraid if I let the illusion go, I would miss out on everything I believed in. When in reality, I missed out on everything, because I couldn’t let go.

We make it to the outside of the door to my room.

I’m telling you this because you told me something so personal about yourself. I want you to know that I’m not all jokes and ridicule.. I can be somewhat serious.. I can be someone you trust and can count on you always have your back. If you can get past all the craziness and see through all the smoke I put up, I’m someone who will make your wildest dreams and fantasies come true. So uh.. I just want to tell you, thanks for taking a chance with me today.

I gave her one last gaze and a smile, then pushed open the door looking inside. The place was amazing, from the marble entry to the brand new luxury king beds. An oversized bathroom, tub and separate shower, double wash basins, a seating area, two televisions and refrigerator. Not to mention all the other standard room amenities available.

Just make yourself comfortable. Might I suggest jumping on the bed, but I must warn you not to lay your head down on any of those cloud like pillows, for you will not be returning from heavenly slumber anytime soon, if you do!

I pulled out my phone looking to see I had a text.

I looked at Alice who was looking at my phone, checking out my message. I pretended like I didn’t notice her looking as I replied.

Hey, you’re not texteavesdropping are you?

She tried to act like she was looking at something else, but she saw. I wondered if she thought it was some other girl sending me messages. I smiled as I slid the phone back into my pocket.

I’m going to take a shower, I’ll leave the door cracked open if you want to talk to me. But really, make yourself at home, get comfy.

I walked in and entered the bathroom, closing the door halfway. I turned on the shower and began to get undressed as I started to get ready for our date.

I watched him head into the shower and a part of me wanted to gaze in before realizing how utterly creepy and weird that would be. Then again one peak wouldn’t hurt anything? Enough, that’s just weird. I walked away from the bathroom door heading to look around the hotel; I couldn’t help but really think about the little text I saw him reading. Sure it was rude to look over his shoulder at them but sometimes it was just natural.

“This place is amazing.”

I said that not knowing if he could hear it, considering the shower was now running. Angel was a lovely girl’s name, and if it was some girl he had plans with I couldn’t really be mad. I mean it’s not like we were really dating or even talking about doing so, we’d hardly just met in fact. I walked along the bed feeling the blanket as I took a seat on it, testing how comfy it was…it for sure was. I mean we were going to be training together, he could be my friend. I mean he did bring me back here so I don’t know how he was expecting to go on a date with this Angel girl anyways.

I laid back on the bed laying on it sideways, it was comfortable as you’d imagine at a place as nice as this one. Maybe I should just take that peak? Stop it Alice, your being bad. Was this Angel girl his girlfriend, or even Wife? Something tells me he’d get in a lot of trouble for bringing me here even if we weren’t doing anything. Ah the day was still fun regardless even if I was about to get kicked to the curb in favor of some other girl.

Meeting A Star?

Admittedly the running had become a bit tedious at this point, mostly because I was already tired going into it and having to start and stop was killing me. But I found the will to continue some how, wanting to get to a place where we could just relax for a bit. The elevator ride was a bit relaxing at least it gave me a bit of time to relax, breathing in and out as we went up. It was clear Nick was in far superior shape then I was, as he seemed to hardly be showing any signs of fatigue.

“You know it could probably be a lot worse.”

I chuckled as we went up as I again had to think about how high we were getting aka way too high. I shook my head as we continued on up, we seemed to have avoided them though as the night seemed, would we ever really get away? After all everybody here was going to know Nick and sure enough it would get on some form of Social Media and reach the HBO guys. But for now I had to hope we’d have a bit of time.

“So what is this other thing you had in mind?”

I turned towards him staring up at him, as I turned around my back to the doors as I could hear us finally reach a stop, as the doors creeped open behind me.

I smile even more, pointing over her shoulder. She turns around slowly to see that we are at the very top of the massive structure.

She turned around again and looked at me, completely shocked.

That’s right! They have rollercoasters up here!

I grabbed her hand and tried to pull her from the elevator, but she wouldn’t budge. She grabbed onto the railing inside and refused to let it go.

Come on! We don’t have much time, and I think we should ride everything!

She seemed petrified.

Ok this was a fun day and all but yeah the day was for sure done at this point. I didn’t like heights to begin with but it was all fine and dandy with walls around me to make me not realize how high we really were. All the sudden he had me at the top with a frickin’ rollercoaster, yeah no thanks. It was a fun day while it lasted but maybe that Angel girl could accompany him on this one. I may have a high flying style in the ring but this was completely different.

“…Yeah…Um…Um…Yeah…No thanks.”

Sure I had been on rollercoaster’s but they were generally, the little kiddy ones that didn’t go too high and weren’t this incredibly high. What if I got unstrapped? Is this how I wanted to die, no thanks. This wasn’t for me, I was not about to go out there onto this rollercoaster. I continued to shake my head probably bordering on looking like a mental patient finally panicking and clicking one of the elevator buttons, I didn’t care which one anything but here would be better.

“This is not happening.”

The door’s were getting ready to close as I waited to see if he was going to come in or out, I didn’t want our day to be over but I’d much rather face HBO then do this. You know jumping on that bed sounded pretty fun right now, but so did kissing the tile on the bottom floor.

“…Yeah…Um…Um…Yeah…No thanks.”

I was shocked. Here was this fearless girl, willing to anything from the time I met her, to now. Finally we would get to do something fun, something exhilarating, that would get our blood pumping and she’s too afraid..

You would think we were still in the hotel room, me trying to get laid or something with the kind of resistance she was putting up. I watched as the elevator doors started to close. I couldn’t just let her go, not after all that. I put my hand up, locking in the force face claw, forcing the doors open.

Wow, it's kinda nice to know you aren't completely fearless. Listen.. I booked this hotel so that I could ride these coasters. I’ve been to Vegas more times than I like to count, never have I gotten to ride any of these! If you want to be a chicken like my last girlfriend, then by all means, I’m not going to force you to have a wonderful time with me.

I shrug my shoulders and drop my hand.

I can promise i’ll keep you safe. You can hold onto me, do whatever you gotta do to face your fear, but I’m not getting on that elevator with you. I’m not going back to filming that show until I have to. This is my last day of fun until after I’ve beaten Shark at City of Evil and I’ve invited you to be a part of it. Outside of Sin City arena, there is a wall that says "Do something you've never done before!" We have done a lot of great things today, things we’ve never done before with anyone else. It was a pleasure meeting you and If you choose to go back down, I wont think any less of you, I just hope at least you had a good time.

I hold out my hand again as the doors begin to close. The doors swing open again as I hold my hand out, this time offering it to her.

There he was using a guilt trip on me; I didn’t expect him to let me go quietly but this big speech that essentially called me a wimp was too much. I didn’t want him to think of me as some wuss forever, but as I looked at his hand I could only see behind him the scary insanely big fall off the edge. I grabbed his hand and then took a step across the threshold of the elevator, closing my eyes as I did. I ended up naturally cuddling into him a bit as I did, not wanting to be anywhere but on his hip.

“Fine but you better not move more then a foot away from me.”

I meant to say it jokingly but my fear actually made it sound kind of forceful, which wasn’t a bad thing. I was afraid to step any farther as the door’s closed behind me and I found myself second guessing my decision. I made a sudden movement to turn back now but he now had a hold of me and was able to redirect me forward.

“Can’t we just watch TV! That would be fun to.”

I wouldn’t dream of it. She got in close to me, wrapping both her arms around me tight. I couldn’t help but smile.

I don’t watch tv. I do however, admire your courage. It’s inspiring. You’re afraid for the both of us, yet even in spite of that fear, here you are.

I took a step, lifting my leg and Alice close to me. She stood on my foot, so each step would lift her up, but she wouldn’t loosen her grip on me at all.

We’ll go on this one first, it’s not so bad, it just lifts you to the top of the needle and brings you back down. I bet the view is tremendous!

I walk lifting Alice along as we make it over to the ride. I smoothly reach into my back pocket, then shake hands with the guy working the ride, slipping him a twenty dollar bill as I do.

I wink at her having skipped the line.

I take it we can’t get on like this?

I look at Alice wrapped tight around me, then at the guy working the ride.

Worker

I stepped up to our side of the ride and looked down at Alice.

Reluctantly she released her grip around my body, instead holding on to my arm. She sat down beside me and the worker gave me a look as he tries to put her safety guard down.

Let him make sure you’re safe..

It was like talking to a little kid, so cute, so adorable. Alice was just so innocent and fun loving, I couldn’t help but feel as though I was starting to fall for her. She released most of my arm, moving down to only hold my hand. the worker walks over and pulls the guard over my chest.

Worker
You sure she wants to ride this? It....

SHHHH! Of course she does! Alice isn’t afraid of anything! In fact, she’s a wild child!

The worker shut his mouth and backed away with a shrug. He walked over to his machine and we began to lift.

Alice, open your eyes!

We continued to hold hands as the ride slowly lifted us up the needle.

Without much thought my grip on his hand became so strong, it was nearing on violent. If he wasn’t careful I may just cut off all the circulation to his hand, I had my eyes firmly closed. It was bad enough I was on it, let alone having to look out at just how high I really was. He screamed at me to open my eyes and I responded quickly.

“No way.”

I wasn’t about to even though he was now begging for it, the ride was going slow. I felt us hit the top of the ride, feeling us stop. Foolishly I opened up one eye as I saw Nick looking out with excitement, then turned to look around at just how high we were. And just like that I realized it was a mistake.

Alice Wright
“GET ME OFF, GET ME OFF!”

I screamed it first out as though the crane guy could hear it then, over at Nick hoping for him to somehow stop us from falling like this. Looking at him with my heart racing, I realized there was no way out, as my grip became even tighter as I counted down the seconds until my demise.

“No way.”

She screamed back at me as we reached the very top of the needle. I smiled wide, her little hand had enough of a grip to smash my much larger hand. I looked around, able to see all of Vegas and a majority of Nevada, the desert and mountains off in the distance. I look over at Alice who opens one eye barely, then the other, opening them completely. I’ll never forget the look on her face as her mouth dropped agape.

“GET ME OFF, GET ME OFF!”

Wow, didn’t think I would hear that until our fifth or so date..

I smiled wide, unsure if she heard. Hopefully she didn’t over her screaming.

Nick Ridicule
This isn’t even the scary part! Wait until it drops out from under us, letting us free fall back down!

I realized I probably shouldn’t have said that as she looked at me, her eyes full of fear. Before she could react or say anything to me, we dropped. Our arms flew up, as did our feet, our interlocked hands above us as we plummeted back down to the bottom of the needle. Alice and I both let out a scream. Alice continued screaming.

Alice...

She screamed again, taking in air only to turn it into another scream.

Alice, we made it! You can open your eyes.

The worker came up and released us from the ride.

Nick Ridicule
See, that wasn’t so bad! Just a free fall from the top of the tallest needle in Vegas!

Alice stood up, her entire body shaking. She released my hand, only so she could attack me, hitting me to the chest, not allowing me out of my seat. She put her knee down into my lap, practically mounting me on the ride as she unloaded with slaps.

I take it you're ready for another...?

I smiled wide, guarding myself from her onslaught of slaps. It was worth the abuse having her on top of me the way she was.

Slap, slap, and slap. There was little aim involved with them and everyone else probably thought I was crazy as I laid a few more on him for forcing me onto this ride. I was happy to be down on the ground but equally as unhappy to still be this high. He was blocking most of them, so I finally pulled away stopping myself still in his lap.

“That wasn’t so bad...”

I said looking around at the people all staring at us confused about how weird we were and if this was somehow normal for us. Even though it was clearly a lie, he was able to get to his feet as I walked away trying not to make eye contact with any of the onlookers until we were past the line nearing the elevator again.

“Come on that was plenty fun for one day wasn’t it?”

I laughed and laughed as slap after slap reigned down upon me.

I had managed to get Alice so far out of her shell, that she was now physically assaulting me and she didn’t care who saw. It was like she was starting to become a wild child right before my very eyes.

As the thoughts filled my head, she suddenly became aware of all the others, no longer focused on herself, or on me. She did her best to shake it off like it was “no thang,” playing to cool with a no sell.

She sped away, speed walking past everyone else in line. I hurried after her.

I tried to catch up but she used her size to move so easily past people. She wasn’t on her way to the next ride though, instead she was trying to go back to the elevator.

She made it to the elevator, giving me a chance to catch up.

“Come on that was plenty fun for one day wasn’t it?”

She was done with me already. Sure, this wasn’t your typical ‘first date’ but it’s been exactly how I thought a first date should be. A totally impromptu performance of who you are, on the spot, in that given moment.

The few dates I had been on since... Ashes.. No one I had met had made it past the opening stage of being with me. No one had captured my attention, my interest, the way that Alice had. The last person to captivate me this way was... KatatoNick Khaos..

She pressed the elevator door button several times, as if pressing it more would make it come faster.

The sky was beginning to change color as the sun began its decent behind the mountains. She turned around slowly.

and can we enjoy the sunset while hanging over the side of the building?

She gave me a look I had seen many times before. A look that always seemed to make me smile. A look I had become so familiar with, that I called it the “I Hate You Nick Ridicule” look. This time was no different, I smiled back at her and shrugged.

Alice, you have got to learn to step outside of your box.

I thought about what I had said, then shrugged because I felt it made sense on several levels.

So many people are trapped, doing the mundane on a daily basis. This is your shot to do everything you’ve ever dreamed and I’m the guy crazy enough to set that part of you free. Just finish what you started. I have one more thing planned for after the rides..

I turned around and walked away, unsure if she would follow. It would be for the best if she decided not to follow me anyway. I tend to ruin lives. Hers would be no different. Why should her untainted innocence collapse into my lewd misfortune. I realized I was mumbling to myself as these thoughts filled my head, seemingly overflowing. I walked over to the railing and looked over the edge of the Stratosphere at the setting sun.

There he was yet again, using a good guilt trip to keep me from going. I didn’t want to go on any more rides; I didn’t want to be on the top of the Stratosphere anymore. I felt like at any moment I was going to fall over the side and crash into the ground, into a tiny little splat. Even though he was trying to make it seem like it was out of my shell, I did plenty of crazy stuff. But this, being this high was not my idea of a good time. The elevator opened up behind me, as I turned looking over at Nick looking over at the sunset.

“God I hate you…”

I didn’t want to be up here and in an ideal world Nick and I could go have some fun down on the ground some where but for whatever reason he insisted on being on top of this building like this. I let out a big sigh and walked towards him, I stood a few feet away from the ledge using my foot to tap the back of his leg to let him know I was there, looking at the sunset myself but not willing to even give my eyes a chance to look down the side of the building.

“I’ll look at the sunset with you but no more rides.”

I had to get something out of it and I was going to be firm with my stance on this, there was no way I was going on anymore of these death contraptions that he liked to call “rides”.

Sorry about today. It’s just... OH NO!

I looked over to see two of the cameramen step out of the elevator. This was it, they finally had me boxed in.

I can’t stay, because I can’t be caught!

I hurried away from Alice rushing away to avoid being caught. That’s when I noticed my only escape route. I looked over my shoulder at Alice following. I waited for her to get closer.

Nick Ridicule
You should leave, ride the elevator down and hopefully we’ll meet up at the bottom. I don’t want to force you to do anything, I’m really sorry about today. But my only way off, is off. So i’m going to bungee jump off.

I hurry off again, walking over to the platform.

Nick Ridicule
Thousand bucks to hook me up to this thing and let me jump off.

Worker
DEAL!

I pulled out an envelope and handed it to him as he got his harness ready.

Worker
Your girlfriend gonna jump with you? We have a duel harness.

He looks at Alice standing near the couple of steps leading to the platform.

Nick Ridicule
She’s not yet ready for a leap of faith. I would be surprised if she even decided to meet up with me once I get to the bottom after the day we’ve had.

He began getting the harness ready as I looked at Alice, then toward the elevators where the cameramen where searching around, getting closer.

Meeting A Star?

I looked from Nick and then the HBO crew, shaking my head looking down at the ground as I was faced with the choice. I started to think about going down the elevator, the HBO crew wouldn’t even pay me a single bit of mind if I ran that way. I could get to the bottom and meet him there; I’d be waiting for him. But as I thought about it, I couldn’t help but fear his safety and for some reason it seemed wrong if I wasn’t there beside him. I couldn’t even handle looking over the edge of the building, I still hadn’t and now he wanted to jump off the side.

Finally I just decided to go for it rushing down towards him as the harness guy quickly pulled out the duel harness seeing me coming. I couldn’t believe I was going to do it as I walked straight up to him as the guy started to quickly get us harnessed up for it. As he did it, I was able to look at Nick in the eyes. It was his fault I was here now about to do this crazy stunt, he’d again pulled me into doing something that was truly such a bad idea. I didn’t even want to say anything to him, I just glared at him as I could see a tiny little grin at the end of his cheek forming as I just shook my head still not willing to look over the side.

I smiled a bit more, not able to control my smirk. I had driven Alice over the edge, literally in this case. We were fully strapped in as I looked over my shoulder to see that the cameramen were walking toward us.



The guy released us and I jumped with Alice strapped close to me. We flew off the side the platform and began to plummet down the side of the building.

HOLY SHIT! FUCK YEAH!!!

We fell 855 Feet or 108 floors on our way down to the ground. We whooshed through the air on our way down, finally we began to slow down before hitting the ground, landing safely on our feet.

LIFT US BACK UP AND LETS DO IT AGAIN!

I tossed my arms up as we got unstrapped.

WOOOOOOO! Now that’s how you make a get away! Can you believe we just did that!?

I looked up, not even able to see the platform we had jumped from. That was the craziest controlled free fall in history!

CAN YOU!?

As I looked at Alice, wondering how much she hated me right now for jumping off of a building with her, a limousine pulled up in front of us. It was our limousine that we had to ditch back at the Sin City Arena. The driver got out and ran around, opening the door for us.

I was shaking, I couldn’t believe we had done something so stupid and so crazy and I couldn’t believe I had taken that risk as well. I was frozen still as we got to the ground, not wanting or able to will myself into moving. I shook my head at him, trying to speak but unable to.

“Err, err…Never again.”

I finally squeeked my thoughts out of my lips as I walked into the car slowly, he got in behind me as the driver closed the door and walked back to the front. I was just happy to be back on the ground, I didn’t care what we did next I just didn’t want to be that high or fall that far again, even if Nick being there did make me feel a lot safer. I couldn’t help but tuck myself under his arm, laying my head on his chest. Even though we had just met, I needed to be close to him right now, my hands still shaking.
