The New World Empty The New World

Chuck Matthews: “Well…I’d be lying if I said that I had that perfect world that I originally planned on…

But it’s close enough.

So, that’s it. Bad Company wins. We get our perfect world. And now…we disband. I mean, like I said last week. We got what we were after, what’s the point of sticking around?

Bad Company wins. Which is funny, because I’ve heard it more often than I should have. ‘Chuck you didn’t win.’

Okay Nick. Okay Biggie. You wanna put some money on that?

Oh, stupid me. I forgot I was the smartest man in wrestling. Of course I won! My plan was executed flawlessly. It was so…ingrained into the company, that there was no possible way to mess it up.

The ironic part of it all is that the person that essentially finished the job for me was the guy that spent so long fighting against me. So I suppose I owe Nick a thank you. You removed the cancer. No more infection in NLWF, poisoning this company, bringing it down with egos, and unnecessary attacks, and…well, just plain stupidity.

Chris Matthews, the new General Manager of Revolution. That was an easy decision. He put on very entertaining shows every Saturday on Direct Hit. When we had a proposal for him, a suggestion for a match, he was always quick to listen. There’s no doubt in my mind he will do what’s best for Revolution, just as he did for Direct Hit.

See…the thing that this…Fuck The Winners or whatever it is they stand for…the thing that they’re trying to hold over our heads is this fact that they hold the titles NLWF once had. Well, that’s cool. Two problems with that.

Number one, Brenton and I were the last tag champions, and as such, we are legally entitled to a rematch, whether you decide to high-tail it to another company or not.

And two…this almost perfects NLWF even further. I mean, it’s always nice to hold a title, but at the end of the day, it’s just a chunk of gold. It’s just a strap of leather, isn’t it? The reason I’ve stopped caring about the belts isn’t because I can’t hold them. God knows I still got a hell of a lot of fight left in me. Nah, my problem with the belts is that they’ve become too…idolized. Back when I was wrestling, holding a belt meant something. It meant not only had you proven you were the top dog, but everyone else recognized it as well. Shit, it’s a trend in NLWF as well, until people like Corey Casey, Jason Hawk, and even myself, ruined. When I first started out here, holding a title meant something. Sure, we had guys winning belts under controversial circumstances. Tails, awarded a title. Death-Angel handed the tag belt. Myself, awarded the No Limit Title, Johnny Electric won the belt by disqualification. But the thing is…while I was awarded the title, I held onto it for dear life. I made it something to be proud of holding. I made sure that any doubts that I should be champion were erased from anyone’s mind. And when I finally did lose that belt? I lost it in what was called one of the greatest battles of the time, one of the most competitive matches ever seen.

Brenton Cyrus. The man who, to this day, is the longest reigning, most dominant champion in NLWF history. The two of us together were the longest reigning, and the hands down greatest tag team of all time.

That’s why the ignorance of these new guys is just astounding to me. Here’s the bottom line. You might think that Brenton Cyrus and I are washed-up, that we’re past our prime, that we aren’t as good as the new guys and therefore don’t deserve the same respect.

But let me let you in on a little secret…the best that 2010 has to offer doesn’t hold a candle to what the best of 2009 already did. The wrestler of the year can’t stand up to Brenton Cyrus. The tag team of the year is nothing compared to Chuck Matthews and Brenton Cyrus.

I mean look at what that year was all about. We had two men with not a hell of a lot to their name. Both of us had some success, both of us had national fame from our previous fields…but as we learn in NLWF, the past is nothing. The present…the future…that’s all that matters. Who the fuck cares that Chuck Matthews was a former three time world champion in some other place? Who the fuck cares that Brenton Cyrus had released multiple Hollywood blockbusters? People knew our names, sure. My debut, people knew who that guy running to the ring was. They knew those two young men pulling up to the arena in their fancy limos. Did that mean that they would succeed here? Not at all.

That’s an aspect of NLWF that I miss. That’s a part of NLWF that I’ve too long wanted to bring back, but for some strange reason, has fallen out. This time where you had to work to be seen as the best. Too often, I’ve seen guys come in, and demand their spot in the main event. Demand a shot at the title, because hey, they were huge successes in their last company! Who the fuck cares? I was a huge success in RWF. Johnny was a huge success in RWF. Brenton Cyrus was a huge success in Hollywood. Biggie was a huge success in UFC. Who fucking cares?

What I sought to get rid of, and one of the many things Bad Company tried, and succeeded, in changing, was this sick sense of entitlement. This disgusting habit that NLWF has had of giving shots to people who don’t deserve them.

Hey TJ, you were a multiple time champion all around the world before you made your NLWF debut. Well, that’s cool. Guess who’s talking about that now? Nobody.

Biggie Mac, the UFC champion! The fighter turned wrestler! Hey, he can fight, can’t he? He can hold a title, right?

Nah, fuck you. Start where you belong. At the bottom of the fucking barrel.

Maybe it’s my own personal bias here. Maybe the reason I feel everyone should start at the bottom, is because that’s exactly how people saw me. But is it really that crazy? When was the last time people talked about how awesome Jake Stunner was, or Ryan Apollos, or Connor O’Shannon? All guys who were given these spots in the limelight, this hype they didn’t deserve. Just one of those things that made NLWF suck.

Why do I feel so entitled? Because not only have I won titles, not only have I succeeded where others would have failed…but I’ve been here for a long time. I’ve proven to the world that I’m here to stay. That there’s nobody that can end Chuck Matthews except Chuck Matthews himself.

For a long time, I’ve sat and watched NLWF deteriorate. I’ve watched this place that Brenton and I built, that we made great…that Nick, Brenton, and I…that Salvation cleaned when it started to decay…

What was Bad Company if not another Salvation? The original Salvation, the one that truly did fight for the greater good? The one that fought to make NLWF great, that got rid of people that cared only about themselves, and were willing to crush the company for their own selfish gain.

Bad Company fought fire with fire. I became the company’s greatest villain, I turned everyone against me. I aligned with the people that had always been seen as the scum of the company. The filthiest, the cruelest, the most egotistical man and woman NLWF had ever seen. Corey Casey and Alison Williams.

Think of the brilliance behind it! The ultimate performance, proof that there’s nobody better at the art of manipulation than Chuck Matthews. I was able to convince people that had every reason to hate me, that I was the man to side with. Corey Casey? When had we EVER had good history? In fact, whenever Corey had an idea, whenever he had some quest for power, who was always the guy to ruin it? Yours truly.

By becoming the greatest villain, I could show the world all the problems with NLWF. By attacking people at random, by making everyone hate me, I shoved the problems in everyone’s face. I showed them what they chose to ignore.

The next step? Fix those problems. I booted Corey out. And, as I’ve said, I regret it later. Regardless of my personal feelings about the guy, he was still a part of the company. Still welcome in the new federation.

He chose otherwise.

This is what people fail to realize. It wasn’t about eliminating anyone who didn’t join. It was about eliminating anyone who openly opposed. Imagine all the trouble we would have saved, if people had simply gone with the flow. We would have taken the company…we would have implemented our new policies, fixing what was wrong. We would have rebuilt this company, remade it something to be proud of.

You can’t see just how brilliant this all is. Nick, that’s why you’re so angry, isn’t it? The fact that Brenton and I had a plan from the beginning, and you were left out of the loop.

You blamed me for nearly killing the company with Corey Casey, back before I took the show from you. You never stopped to think that maybe I was very well aware that Brenton had cameras around his mansion? That I made sure to show, on film, exactly where the bombs were, to avoid him triggering them, or standing too close when we closed the place down?

You see…by destroying the company…or in this case, making the world believe we did…we were able to rebuild it from the ground up. This whole thing, just one little thing after another. I sacrificed my girlfriend in the Live or Die match, Brenton sacrificed his mansion in LA at the BBQ show, all in our elaborate scheme to recreate the NLWF that we were so proud of before. No. I take that back. To make the NLWF we were so proud of…and make it even better than we remembered it.

In a way…we took on a similar approach with NLWF that we took with you, Nick. We took a company that was falling apart, a company that was degenerating, that was slipping further and further into disarray…much like you were, Mr. Mark. Remember what you were like back before we found you? You’ve said yourself, you were a wreck. You had nothing. You were nothing.

Well shit, you turned out alright thanks to us, didn’t you? So why couldn’t we do the same, on a mass scale? Why couldn’t we take a broken company, just like we took a broken man? Why couldn’t we take something, tear it apart, and rebuild it from scratch, bigger and better than ever? Like I said…it worked like a dream with Nick Ridicule, why not try it to NLWF?

You see…I always felt like it was a mistake, what we did to you, Nick. I always felt like it was a bad idea. Kidnapping? Not really my thing. I mean, I do some despicable things, I have questionable tactics…but my crimes are usually the same old, same old. Sex. Violence. Conspiracy. It’s always the same speech at Seven Sins. Chuck Matthews, lust, wrath, and pride.

You see…this is why I think there was any opposition at all. I mean, let’s be realistic here. Who honestly doesn’t want what I envisioned? What we envisioned? The greatest competitors, from anywhere, any discipline…Holy shit, this sounds a lot like your little rebel train. The difference? Respect. Power.

:Look at what we have now. Same wants, same desires…totally different beliefs. We both want that competitive edge…but you want a war zone. I’m sick of the war zone. I’m so sick and tired of watching the same old shit, week in and week out. Guy doesn’t get his way, guy throws a bitch fit, attacks the first person he finds.

This is supposed to be a business. An industry. Not a fucking life commitment. When did this turn into such a twisted game, that I can’t even go into my own house without wondering if some kid is gonna torch it because he didn’t get his way?

What the fuck happened to this place?

We look at what we have now…We believe in power for the many. You believe in power for…none? You want anarchy?

See, this is why Bad Company had such a wide following. I gave the people what they demand in day to day life. I gave them what they so desperately wanted, but what NLWF could never give them.

SOME FUCKING STABILITY.

Look around you, Nick. Look around, Biggie. You’re traveling the world? Wonderful! Take a fucking look around? What’s the one thing you’ll notice about every possible place you will ever visit?

ANARCHY DOESN’T EXIST.

Anarchy simply doesn’t work. In fact, of all possible political views you can have, anarchy is by far, the most retarded. Why? Because you’re just asking to lose. You will never, under any circumstance, win. Why? Because people demand a leader. People demand SOMEBODY, some sort of power to step up and keep the rest in line.

You think I wanted that spot? You’re out of your fucking mind. I led Bad Company, and nothing more. I didn’t want to lead a company. I wanted the company to lead the company. A system where there was no one man running everything. Where we could keep each other in line, instead of relying on one ego tripping asshole taking charge.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned in the last two years, it’s that no one man can carry the company. I saw Brenton Cyrus try it, and for a while, he succeeded. And then? He couldn’t do it anymore, and he fell. The two of us, for the longest time, stood as the pillars, holding this place up, keeping it from crumbling. Over time, we had others step up, ease the load. Jason Hawk did it for a while. Nick did it for a long time. Corey tried it, then decided he cared more about himself, that he couldn’t care less who the fuck was working to keep the place running, so long as it meant minimum effort for him.

Welcome to my perfect world. We don’t need to deal with any ‘Who’s helping keep this company afloat?’

If you’re not working to help it, you’re dragging it down. You’re simply adding more weight for the rest of us, who give a shit about this place, to have to put up with.

But I suppose I can see where this is going. It’s easy to talk, isn’t it? And I suppose it’s hard to believe me, knowing what I’ve spent the last months doing with Bad Company. But as I’ve said countless times by now. It was a temporary fix. By any means necessary, remember? With the war over…with Bad Company taking what it was after all this time…now you get to see the NLWF that you chose to leave. The perfect world you tried to prevent. Just as you wanted. Just as we wanted. No Bad Company. No unnecessary brutality. No assholes trying to run the whole thing for themselves. Respect. Competition. Freedom. Order.

Perfection.

Ladies and gentlemen, still here with NLWF…I applaud you. You have made the right decision. The smart decision.

You might notice the flow of talent NLWF had once the cancer was removed. A lot of old faces, some successes, some not so much…but all people who have gone a long time without so much as a chance. People who simply needed that opportunity to prove that they have what it takes.

They’ll start at the bottom, just as I had to. Just as Brenton had to. Just as we all should have to. They’ll prove themselves, become great, become the next big things, future legends…

…or they’ll fall. They’ll fail. They’ll die trying. But guess what?

Unlike the old NLWF, at least they won’t be dragging the company down if they do. They didn’t ruin a perfectly good main event. They didn’t taint a perfectly good championship with a shitty title match their first week here.

When they become the top dog…when they become a mainstay, a true competitor, a force to be reckoned with…they’ll have done so through weeks of proving their dominance. There will be no doubt in anyone’s mind ‘There’s a guy that has what it takes.’

What will you have? The same old shit. Same old boring faces. You’ll take in the occasional new guy, just to mix things up a bit. He has no promise, but you’ll throw him to the dogs right away. That’s all you can do, isn’t it?

He’ll either beat them…but he never had a chance to prove himself. Eventually, it’ll catch up to him, and he’ll fall…

Or he’ll fail from the get-go. Realize he doesn’t yet have that experience. Where will he go?

To the place that’s popping out superstars like a slut popping out babies. To the place that takes the nobodies and shapes them. Puts them through the wringer, makes them compete, makes them prove their worth. NLWF.

There’s no doubt, you might’ve taken a lot of the former top guys. You took most of the present.

But we still have the past. And we have the future.

In the end? I win.

Bad Company wins.

NLWF wins.

Everyone wins.”
