The Last Stand of Rob Langdon Empty The Last Stand of Rob Langdon

-City of Salvation-

Shadow Demon stared into a window which was mounted on one of the four walls of the room he was in. His reflection stared back at him, a complete copy of his every detail. His white face paint, his messed up hair, his orange suit stained with blood. This was where he wanted to be, everything he ever could be. Shadow Demon was finally back in control; there was no stopping him now. Corey had recreated him, transformed him once again into the perfect dark entity, the twisted, dark, evil Shadow Demon...

It was good to be back.

No one could stop him, hell, no one dare even try. He had taken apart Genocide with the flick of his finger. He could have killed them, had he wanted to, but just before he could get down and dirty, the voice had come again; the calling echo from the small portion of him that was still Rob Langdon. Shadow Demon chuckled.

Shadow Demon
Heh heh, you’re still in there aren’t you Robbie...Corey Casey might not have been as thorough as his mummy thought he was...

Shadow let out a loud relentless laugh. He would have continued with it, but a voice inside stopped him.

‘Stop it’

Two words that appeared out of nowhere whisked through him like wind on a cool summer’s day. Rob Langdon was there alright, but Shadow would take care of him. Shadow would punish the other side of him beyond belief for all the annoyance he had caused him.

Shadow Demon
Robinda Gemma Langdonia, please, if you would, come join this little tea party?

Shadow chuckled, but as he did the image in the mirror distorted and changed. Shadow was now face to face with his other side; the other him. He smiled at Rob Langdon, his eyes boring into him. Rob was wearing long blue jeans and a white T-Shirt, but obviously he wasn’t in good condition. His eyes seemed to be lost, and he was covered in scratches from head to toe, and his right eye had a purple bruise around it. Shadow smiled, bearing a row of dirty uncleaned teeth.

Shadow Demon
How nice of you to join me Robinda, would you like some tea? Or perhaps a cupcake? Ahehehe!

Rob Langdon
Help me...

Shadow cracked up in laughter, the echo vibrating around the room.

Shadow Demon
Help you?! That’s the lamest joke since why did the chicken cross the road!

Rob gritted his teeth as he spoke.

Rob Langdon
Stop hurting everyone god damn it!

Shadow Demon
Ahehehe..oh my poor misguided self, just why would I do that?

Rob Langdon
Because you will kill KID, Brenton, everyone I care about! Corey killed my wife, my favourite thing in the whole world, and my friends are the only thing I have left keeping me going!

Shadow Demon
Ah, you poor soul. You just don’t understand do you? Your friends are going to keep weighing me down, bringing me back to your level! You don’t understand what it was like for poor old me while you were in control, do you Robinda? What you’re feeling now is only a miniscule of what I felt while I was trapped inside you! But now the time has come for your punishment hehehe...

Shadow Demon reached into his pocket, fidgeted around for a little while, before pulling out the knife that was the most important item perhaps he had ever had, well, both of them. It was the kitchen knife that had been sharpened to perfection by them both. Shadow ran his finger down the side of it, before twirling it through his fingers, as Rob watched, helpless. Suddenly, Shadow grabbed onto it, and brought it up above his arm, the amazingly sharp tip pointing down, directly to his left arm. Shadow grinned madly.

Rob Langdon
What are you doing Shadow?!

Shadow stared up, still grinning.

Shadow Demon
This, Robinda, is me finally ridding myself of your vile blood. The infection that is you, hehe, aka Robindatitus!

Shadow roared with laughter as Rob frowned.

Rob Langdon
But how are you going to do that?! Your blood is my blood! You can’t separate it!

Shadow smiled the same mad smile.

Shadow Demon
With that, you are wrong Robinda. Our red stuff is made up of a different combination of cells. How do you suppose that one person would be able to take control of the mind AND all of the bodily functions? So the obvious way to take control is to eliminate the bad cells, and the way I’m going to do that is by getting our mixing a sample of our blood with this certain formula I’ve created. Once I add the blood it will destroy all of your genetic cells, completely eliminating you from this body. You see, I may be what most people like to call a crazed maniac, but you can’t argue with one thing.

Rob stared in horror as Shadow raised the knife, and one word managed to find its way out of Rob’s mouth.

Rob Langdon
What?

Shadow grinned.

Shadow Demon
I do my homework.

And with that, Shadow stabbed the knife into his arm and then pulled it out, letting the blood flow free. As the blood spilled from the large cut, Shadow reached into his pocket for a second time, and this time produced a small test tube. He held it under the cut, letting the blood drip into it. That was when Rob realised just how dire his situation was; there was nothing he could do to stop Shadow Demon completing his plan to completely destroy him. While Shadow was in control, there was nothing Rob could do to break through, back into reality. He was trapped in limbo, not quite reality, but not quite non-reality either. He was so beaten and exhausted that he could barely move a muscle, least of all stop Shadow from accomplishing his plan. So at that moment, Rob did the only thing he could do: Scream.

Shadow heard Rob screaming, and looked up, the full test tube in hand, and in the other a Winnie the Pooh band-aid. Shadow laughed at the screaming Rob as he smoothed the bandaid over the cut.

Shadow Demon
Tehehe, Calm now Robinda. You mustn’t make so much noise, or you’ll wake the neighbours!

Shadow roared with laughter as Rob broke down in tears, collapsing to the ground inside the mirror. That set Shadow off even more, so much that he had to grip the test tube tightly so that it didn’t spill. He then walked away from the mirror, to where a long vertical table stood, and at the end of which a tall chair sat. As Shadow sat down in the chair, Rob could see through his tears that there was a small bottle on the table, but he couldn’t see what it was of. Shadow saw him looking, and smiled.

Shadow Demon
This is what will end you Robinda. Guess you’re all out of luck, but don’t get cha panties in a twist, it’ll be over quick...

Shadow pulled the lid off of the bottle, revealing a greenish liquid inside. Shadow grinned, and lifted up the test tube of his, Rob’s, their blood.

Rob Langdon
STOP YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE!

Shadow Demon
Come now, there’s no need for that language Robinda...

And then everything seemed to slow down. Shadow tipped the blood out of the test tube, sending it falling through the air, down toward the greenish liquid. It seemed to hang in the air, as if floating on the air. And at that very moment, the mirror smashed, sending glass hurtling through the air, and then everything went black...

And then when Shadow awoke, he was in a dark, strange place. It was completely dark, and the air tasted strange, as if it wasn’t real...He looked around him, terrified. He had a feeling that he had lost control...He didn’t feel in complete control of the Rob Langdon/Shadow Demon body anymore. What the hell had just happened though? He’d been about to destroy Rob once and for all, and somehow Rob had broken through the mirror...

That was when he heard the voice.

Rob Langdon
You can’t win Shadow. I won’t let you.

Rob appeared in front of Shadow, holding a Desert Eagle pistol up at him, aiming right between the eyes. And that was when Shadow realised that now he was the one inside the mirror, and Rob was the one in reality. They had switched sides...

Shadow Demon
Oh you devious little Robinda...Just how did you manage to do that...

Rob smiled. He was in control now...

Rob Langdon
I simply forced my mind power over yours, while you were distracted in pouring the blood. Shadow, if there’s anyone I know who always keeps on their guard, it’s you. But you got too greedy, didn’t you, you wasted your time taunting me, making me feel every single bit of pain. In the end that was what brought you down; now, I’m going to kill you.

Shadow smiled, and shook his head slowly.

Shadow Demon
You can’t kill me with a gun! Nothing you do in reality will affect me here. Weren’t you paying attention to my little science lesson Robinda?! You were always the disruptive one in class...

Rob Langdon
I know I can’t kill you with this, but I know something you don’t. From my experience in limbo, I can tell that I can’t kill you, but I can inflict harm upon you.

Shadow’s grin suddenly vanished and Rob pulled back on the trigger of the pistol, sending a bullet flying into Shadow’s arm. Shadow screamed out in pain, but for some reason, no blood poured from the wound. Shadow couldn’t even see the bullet. Suddenly, he realised something: Nothing from the real world was allowed to stay in limbo. But Shadow would still be able to feel the pain, because he was still partly real. Everything else in limbo wasn’t...

Shadow couldn’t think anymore, the pain was too much, he dropped to the floor clutching his arm. He could see Rob step forward toward the mirror, vengeance in his eyes. And then it was when Shadow knew he had a chance to take back the body...Then he had another thought: They both couldn’t exist in reality, so this could go on forever, both of them fighting for the body. The only solution was...

Rob pulled down on the trigger, but this time everything slowed down again. The bullet hung in the air, Rob’s eyes stared down unforgiving on Shadow Demon, who was, for some strange reason, smiling madly like he’d just figured out the answer to a complicated puzzle...

And then everything went black. Again.

But this time when Rob woke up, he was sitting across from Shadow Demon on the same long table he had seen through the mirror when Shadow was about to eliminate him from his body, but something wasn’t right. How could they both exist seperatley at the same time if they were the same person?

Rob Langdon
What the hell is going on...

Shadow Demon laughed, and twirled their special knife on his finger before sliding it into the palm of his hand. Shadow had a big old-fashioned cigar in his mouth, and as he laughed, big puffs of smoke wafted into the air. He was also wearing a tuxedo...

Shadow Demon
I’ll tell you what’s going on, after we have a quick game of cards!

Shadow produced a pack of cards from his pocket, ran his finger along the top of them, and then threw two cards over to Rob’s side of the table. Rob didn’t touch them.

Shadow Demon
Oh come on! You’re not supposed to let me see them, Robinda! Haven’t you ever played Texas hold em’ before?!

Rob kept staring at Shadow.

Shadow Demon
Hellllooo?! Too busy thinking about that dreamy boy in the front row?

And then, strangely, Rob started chuckling.

Rob Langdon
You don’t get it, do you Shadow? Corey Casey killed my wife, but that means he killed yours too.

Shadow froze; the remaining cards still in his hand.

Rob Langdon
He killed Tara, but that means he killed Rouge too! Your partner in crime! Look, I know there’s still the human side of you, and I know you still care about Rouge. Because, let’s face it, I do...

Shadow Demon paused. Rob Langdon had just done the one thing that Shadow never expected him to do: outwit him. Shadow hadn’t realised that killing Rob’s love would kill his as well. He’d been so brainwashed by Corey Casey he’d forgotten about the death of Tara, who of course was also Rouge. Shadow was furious, frustrated, and just plain irritated at the same time. And then he began to laugh...

Shadow Demon
Ahehehe! You think you have all the tricks up your sleeve, don’t you Robinda, hmm, well guess what-you’re about to have your sleeve ripped off, because I’m sending you home to mummy!

Shadow then pulled out an oversized remote with a big red button on it, and pressed it quickly before Rob could do anything. As he pressed it, two leather belts suddenly buckled around Rob’s waist, buckling themselves tightly. Rob let out a scream as the belts tightened even more.

Shadow Demon
Alrighty then, how about we get on with it...

Shadow put the main stack of cards down in the middle, took the top three cards off the top, and laid them down, one by one. Rob watched him, nearly out of breath from the tension of the belts around his waist. He had to try and convince Shadow to let him go, so they could attempt to destroy Corey Casey...together. Then, they could settle their differences. Shadow took the top card, and lifted it to his cigar, causing it to burn. Shadow explained:

Shadow Demon
Burn card; We wouldn’t want any cheating now would we?

Rob didn’t reply, and Shadow simply took the top three cards off the top of the pack and laid them down, side by side. Rob had decided that he was just going to have to play along, and try and psyche Shadow out enough, so then he’d stop the game and they could finally take out Corey Casey.

Rob Langdon
Pardon me, I know this is your show and everything, but don’t we need money to play Texas hold em’? Isn’t that the main prize?

Shadow smiled, wide and big. This was exactly the opposite of what Rob was hoping for.

Shadow Demon
Check your pockets Robinda, check your pockets...

Rob frowned, and then, with difficulty, slowly slid his hands into his pockets. Inside, he could feel the chips, quite a lot of them; he pulled them out, and threw them up on the table. Shadow grinned, and then took out his chips from his pockets, and carefully arranged them in stacks, before pushing them slightly forward. He grinned, before reaching back and turning on a light behind him. The light shone out, temporarily blinding Rob, before Shadow moved it to illuminate the table more. There, in the middle of the table, was a huge heap of actual notes in the middle, all of them 100’s.

Shadow Demon
Shall we play?

Rob Langdon
Only if you’re ready to get beaten!

Shadow chuckled.

Shadow Demon
Ahh my silly little Robinda...let’s begin!

Shadow quickly shoved all his chips into the pile in the middle. Rob stared at the size of the pile, and then looked up at Shadow.

Rob Langdon
All in?

Shadow smiled and nodded madly, but Rob just reacted calmly, taking it in his stride.

Rob Langdon
Could be a risky move...

Rob smiled slyly, and Shadow stared at him, not even contemplating the move he’d just made. Rob then slowly moved all his chips in too.

Rob Langdon
But I’ll see it...

Shadow rubbed his hands together, and licked his lips.

Shadow Demon
Alrighty then, next round...

Rob suddenly realised that while he’d been preoccupied with trying to psyche out Shadow, he’d forgotten to even look at his cards, let alone the cards on the table. He’d forgotten about actually winning the poker match. He looked down at his cards, and immediately panic began to spread through his body. All he had were two numbered cards, a 6 of clubs, and 7 of hearts. He quickly looked up as Shadow laid down the fourth card next to the three other cards. But as soon as he did, his face lit up. The four cards were exactly the same as his cards, except two of them! There were two 7’s of hearts, and two 6’s of clubs! Unfortunately, Shadow saw his face, and grinned.

Shadow Demon
Got a good hand have we Robinda?

Shadow sniggered as Rob fell silent.

Shadow Demon
Well that’s okay, because nothing can beat what I have...

Rob Langdon
How can you be so sure?

Shadow Demon
You’ll just have to wait and see, won’t you Robinda. I won’t know just how impossibly unbeatable until I put down the last card...

That’s it, Rob thought, I need to convince him to stop this, and do it now.

Rob Langdon
You know, we don’t even have to do this Shadow! This is fucking pointless, all we’re doing is wasting time trying to kill each other while outside in the real world, Corey Casey runs around free! He didn’t take away just my wife, but yours as well, Shadow!

Shadow paused, his hand above the deck of cards, on top of which was the fifth and final card. This was the same reaction he’d had the first time Rob had brought it up, but then he’d just brushed it off and continued with the game, so Rob decided to press the issue.

Rob Langdon
We can go and take down Corey Casey together, make him suffer for everything he’s done to us, and then afterword we can settle our differences! Corey Casey should be your main priority, not killing me.

Shadow looked up at Rob, and then back at the pack of cards. In that second that Shadow had looked up at Rob, Rob could see something reflected in Shadow’s face that he hadn’t seen before: Pain. Was it Demon’s final realisation of what Corey had done?

Rob Langdon
We’re both fighting the same enemy, Shadow...

And then Shadow flicked over the fifth card, revealing a joker. Rob stared at it, and then looked back up at Shadow, who was standing up, holding two joker cards in his left hand, and their special knife in his right.

Shadow Demon
I win.

And with that, Shadow tossed the knife, with pinpoint precision, into the skull of Rob Langdon. The knife sliced into Rob, piercing the skin and wedging into the brain. Rob Langdon was dead before he hit the ground. Shadow Demon felt a strong sense of satisfaction, as suddenly everything around him began spinning, the darkness twisting before his eyes. And there, in front of him, appeared a glassy glowing rectangular portal. It was the mirror, Shadow realised; the gateway out of limbo. He walked up to it, and then, with a quick glance back at Rob’s body, he stepped through it. As soon as he did, he was back in his room, with the long table and the glass of formula. He quickly grabbed the glass and drunk all the liquid down. He quickly set the glass back down on the table and coughed. The liquid tasted vile. Shadow wiped his mouth, and looked around the room.

Had he really done it? Was Rob Langdon actually dead? He stood up, and looked around the room slowly. Suddenly, he saw a glimmer outside his window, and looked out, only to lay his eyes upon Brenton Cyrus, who was walking past with Corey Casey. They locked eyes for a moment, staring endlessly. So, thought Shadow, Brenton has returned...Shadow watched as Brenton mumbled something to Corey. Shadow heard what it was: ‘Does he still do your bidding’ and also heard the reply from Corey ‘He does’.

Shadow grinned to himself, Rob’s words coming back to him.

‘We’re both fighting against the same enemy here’ ‘Corey didn’t just kill Tara, he killed Rouge as well’

Shadow Demon
You’re wrong Corey...You’re very very wrong...

And with that, Shadow picked up his knife from the table, and walked out of the room...

It’s been a long time hasn’t it, a long time since I’ve been in the ring holding my Undisputed Championship above my head.

A long time since I was un-fucking beatable.

But what can I say, time goes on, things change, new people join, but of course, the federation stays the same. And that’s why I can feel confident about breaking into this match, despite the fact that I’ve never fought either of you before. I can feel confident because the way you win a match in the NLWF hasn’t changed: You either pin your opponent, or make them submit.

And from what I remember, I was pretty good at doing that.

And that’s why I’m going to beat you Corey. Because you don’t deserve anything more than me to get into that ring, beat the shit out of you, and then pin you or make you submit.

Just when you thought you had all the power in the world, right Corey?

Just when you thought you could trample all over me, kill Rouge, take my title and make me your slave. Well guess what, I’ve had enough of the killing, enough of you tossing world championships around like Frisbee’s. Corey, I held the Undisputed title for more than 80 days, making numerous defences at different Pay Per Views. Could you do that?

I didn’t think so.

I rest my case.

As for you, Jason? I don’t have much to say to you, except get of your fucking high horse. We get it, you beat Brenton, congratulations, and you won the Undisputed Championship, well done. But it feels like because of these accomplishments, you think you’re the best in the world.

News flash Jason, you’re not.

Hell you only made most of your accomplishments with help from other people. But no matter, I don’t have to listen to you anymore, because at Revolution, I’m taking back what’s mine.

I’m taking back the Undisputed Championship.

Let the Dark Hero’s rule.
