Ma: Now you have a nice trip. And make sure t'call me, yeah?

O'Shannon: Ma.

Ma: And make sure ya eat well too. I made you some food on'th'way to that place, uhm...the...uhm...

O'Shannon: Seattle mom.

Ma: Yes, now make sure ya eat well, I made you some sandwiches, they have beef, pork, and some dressing on them with cheese an--

O'Shannon: Ma!

She stopped and looked at me. T'be honest it was a little too soon to be worryin' at five o'clock in the mornin'. She was just worried, it's not everyday y'see a man leave his home to go pursue a job opportunity. Me Ma was just worried is all. I could understand, the hairs on the back of me neck were standin' up thinking about the possibilities. She gave me a half smile, like all mothers do when they don't want their child to go off far away. Me Da stood at the door with his keys in his hands.

Ma:
I want ya to call me when you settle down. Make sure you get a good nights sleep and stay safe. And call me and your
father each and everytime you're nested in whatever hotel room yer in. Understand?

O'Shannon: Ma...it's okay.

I gave her a reassuring smile and put a hand on her cheek. She kissed my hand and nuzzled it with her eyes close, feeling the warmth on it. She leans up and kisses me head. That would be the last type of affection I'd get bein' in a wrestlin' ring. I chuckled at the humor I brewed up in my head. "The only thing I'll be kissin' is a boot if I don't keep me head straight." I hug
her gently and look her in the eyes.

O'Shannon: Are ya gonna be okay for me...?

She gave me a nod. Me Ma was strong, she knew I wasn't gonna let myself get hurt that easily. I looked to me Da. He's inside of the house looking at me and mom. He had a smile on his face. He finally walked out and kissed Ma on the cheek and headed to the car. He gave me a glare with a smile and I blinked. What th'hell was that for? I grabbed my bags in my hands up and put them in the car. Me Da was lookin' at his keys when I walked to the other side of the car to get in. I look at him.

O'Shannon: What was that look ya gave me?

Da: Oh, nothin'

He opened the car door up.

Da: Just wonderin' if ya packed yer tampons too.

I made a sarcastic face and hopped in the car.Everybody's a fuckin' comedian now. The engine to the car revved up. I look out
of my window to see me Ma standing at the door. She waves her hand slowly. I wave back with a smirk and turn back. Da looked at me and then at Ma. He waved at her slightly and pulled off. And we were off. I looked forward. Y'know when you get that rumblin' feelin' in yer gut when you feel nervous?

I had that feeling. Deep inside of me stomach. I don't know what it was. I was as cool as a Irish lager. I couldn't let these little butterflies get to me. No. Me Ma and Da wouldn't look at me the same way. O'Shannon men weren't quitters, nor were they the type to let a little nerve tell them to give up. Only a coward would pussy out towards an opportunity towards this. And I, I was
no fuckin' pussy. I closed my eyes in the car, trying to rest a little. Note, it's still early in the mornin'. And usually I don't like gettin' up early. But with this new job, y'gotta start wakin' up at a scheduled time or yer fucked.

But for now, I needed some sleep. It was dead silent in the car. Da looked to me and then back at the road.

Da: So.

Seemed like he wanted to talk. Great. I look at him for a second.

O'Shannon: Yeah?

Da: This NLWF place, did y'know anything particular about it?

To be honest, no I didn't. I looked at me dad for a moment.

O'Shannon: Not really.

Da: Might be some mighty tough fellas there. Gotta keep yer eyes peeled.

O'Shannon: I know.

Da: Don't know what to expect and all...

The car turned to the left slowly. I looked at my Da who's eyes went back to the road. It was silent for a wee bit more. I leaned against the car door and looked out the window. We drove through Boston. My eyes were glued on the people and the buildings. T'think, all me Da's hardwork paid off. We were livin' the dream. We had money in our wallets, well my parents had money in their wallets, and they've kept me fed since I was a small lad. I'm grateful, there's no doubt o'about that.

Da: Walking all the day,
Near tall towers where falcons build their nests.
Silver-winged they fly,
They know the call of freedom in their breasts.
Saw black head against the sky,
Where twisted rocks, they run to the sea...

I looked at my dad who continued in a small hum. I recognized that song. When I was a babe. I sit up in my seat and look forward.

O'Shannon: Living on your western shore,
Saw summer sunsets, asked for more.
I stood by your Atlantic sea,
And I sang a song for Ireland.

Me Da smirked.

Together: Drinking all the day,
In old pubs where fiddlers love to play.
Saw one touch the bow,
He played a reel which seemed so grand and gay.
Stood on Dingle beach and cast.
In wild foam we found Atlantic bass.

Talking all the day,
With true friends who try to make you stay.
Telling jokes and news,
Singing songs to while the time away.
Watched the Galway salmon run,
Like silver dancing, darting in the sun...

I guess rest could wait. Spending time with me dad for the last few hours would be worth it. So, he made it to the airport. Da insisted on walking me to the flight entrance. We went through the metal ditector and we stood at the gate.

Da: Well son...

He pulls his hat off scratching the little reddish hair he had on his head. He gives me a half smile and pats my shoulder lightly.

Da: Do us proud, yeah?

He goes to walk off. I set my bags down and bring him back. I hug him lightly and let'em go. Old man looked like he would be in tears...

O'Shannon: And you say I need the tampons...

He laughed loudly. Da looks at me and pats my shoulder and gives me a nod. He walks off slowly. I look at the gate and then at him. This was a big move. Leavin' me family behind and all that. But this was for the best. The best for me and the best for them. I was a man now. Being a man meant I would have to take responsibility for my life. I couldn't leech off of my parents anymore. I walked through the gate with my flight ticket in hand. I looked around for my seat. There was an empty spot a few seats up front.

I got to the seat and put my bags up top. Something fell out of the bag. The envelope me Da gave me the other day. I picked it up and looked inside of it. The money was still there. What the hell is that? I looked inside of the stack of money and saw a note. I opened it up.

"Connor,

Though you may be gone, we won't worry over you. We've decided that you've made a big decision takin' this occupation. We support you no matter what. And if you ever need something from us, you know you can come to us. You're our pride and joy. You're the light of the O'Shannon Clan, and for that I'm proud of you son. If you see this note then you know how much you will be missed.

Stay Safe

Alistair O'Shannon...
"

I smiled, I knew what I had to do now.

Stewardess:
Excuse me sir?

I turn around to see a woman. She smiles at me.

Stewardess:
May you please take a seat. We're ready to take off in a few minutes. So relax.

O'Shannon: Can do.

I took a seat and looked out the window. I saw the airport's employees go hard at work, getting ready for this plane to lift off. I slowly closed my eyes and soon I was asleep. For the next few hours I was asleep. Some of the stewardesses said I slept like I was dead. Which was kind of a surprise to me because I thought everyone slept like me. Y'learn somethin' new everyday. Soon the flight was over. I grabbed me bags up and walked off the plane. This was Seattle eh? Seemed...depressing. It looked kind of soggy too.

I looked around and walked inside of the airport. My eyes scanned the people inside and a person caught me eye. He was holding up a sign.

"CONNOR O'SHANNON"

I guess that was for me. I walked slowly to this old guy. He was dressed nice, maybe too nice. He was wearing a uniform it appear. Oh I know what is was...a chauffeur. He smiles at me and shakes my hand.

Chauffeur: Mr. O'Shannon pleased to meet you.

O'Shannon: Th'pleasure is mine. And please, call me Connor.

Chauffeur: As you wish Connor. Well let me get those bags for you and we'll be on our way.

O'Shannon: Cheers.

The high life, could get use to this. I walked followin' the guy. We exit and we goes to a limo. I blink and look at it, no, this couldn't be me, could it? I put a hand on the limo and then look at the guy.

O'Shannon: We're drivin' in this?

Chauffeur: Yes, courtesy of NLWF sir.

O'Shannon: Kick ass...

The pop of the trunk is heard. It snapped me out of my trance.

Chauffeur: Well sir, shall we go?

O'Shannon: Yeah...yeah let's go...

He opened the door for me and I got in. I sigh and look around with a yawn. This was awesome. He gets in and looks back.

Chauffeur: We'll arrive at the hotel momentarily.

O'Shannon: Got ya.

With that we pulled off. After a few minutes we arrived at a nice hotel. Holy shit, the size of it is out of this fuckin' world. A valt opened the door for me. I got out and another one comes to the trunk and opens it and gets my bags. They both lead me inside. The place was classy, important business people came out and in. We took an elevator up. I looked at the both of them stand by with neutral glances. I had to break this dull atmosphere, so I started to whistle a small tune. They looked at me and I smirk.

O'Shannon: What? Y'never seen an Irish man whistle before?

They turned away from me. I chuckle slightly and look up. The elevator stopped and the two valets walk out with my bags in hand. They walked down the hallway and then stop at the last door. They handed me a cardkey. I look at it and then they take it and show me how to use it. Seemed simple enough, put it in the ball slot and pull it out.

They walked away and I watched them leave. I opened the door and all of a sudden I heard a voice.

Aaron O'Shea: Connor O'Shannon?

That was an Irish accent. I looked up and to my right. I saw a short lad, seemed a little built. He walked up to me with a smirk.

O'Shannon: You must be Aaron O'Shea...

Aaron O'Shea: That's my name. I heard a lot of hype about you. Sure live up to it...

He looked me up and down.

Aaron O'Shea: Anyway, I wanted to welcome you to NLWF. We're always lookin' for new talent to step in the ring and show what their made of...

O'Shannon: Really now...? Looks like I came to th'right place. Always lookin' to put a hurtin' on someone. And comin' up soon I'm gonna put th'hurtin' on these fellas.

Aaron O'Shea: That's what I like to hear. You got somethin' in you Connor that I like...

O'Shannon:
Well, I'm always here to impress...

Aaron smirked and then walked down the hallway.

Aaron O'Shea: Nice talkin' to ya...

O'Shannon:
Anytime.

I walked inside of my room and then sat down on the bed. I stayed in my room until it was night time. Took a nice shower and went to get ready fer bed. Suddenly there was a knock on the door. Who the hell could that be? Probably one of those valets. Those fuckers messed up on my order. I'd like to give'em a piece of my mind about that. I got up and looked through the peakhole.

O'Shannon: ...

I opened the door up and looked at the person.

O'Shannon: What can I do y'fer...?

The End...
