The Story of Jasper (Part 3) Empty The Story of Jasper (Part 3)

-Two days before WG2 -

No...

It can’t be...

Things flashed too fast for Shadow to remember. There was the shock, the anger, the disbelieving, and the amazement. And then it was night, Jasper was away in his bed, and Shadow was outside, sitting on a hill that looked out to the City of Salvation.

So many thoughts were rushing through his head, he couldn’t comprehend them all at once. Had Rouge had an affair? Or was this before he had met her? Should he tell Jasper about his relationship with Rouge?! The questions were piling up to the point of where he couldn’t see anything anymore...

He needed time. Time to rest, clear his head, get things sorted. He looked down at the City of Salvation, in which Corey slept safely with his Undisputed Championship. Let this be the last night, Shadow thought, that Corey will be safe. That he will believe he is ‘that’ good. He needs a serious punch in the face, and Shadow was going to give it to him.

Shadow stood up, and as he did moments of his past with Rouge suddenly flashed before his eyes.

Their first meeting when she had saved his life.

Her helping him escape from a mental asylum.

Battling their way through the Black Scorpion’s.

Their first kiss, which she had again saved his life with.

Living together.

Married.

Her motivating him after his losses.

Lying together in bed because neither of them had the strength to get up.

Looking into her eyes as she lay in a hospital bed, barely alive.

Her revival.

Celebrating after Dangerous by Design.

Her death.

Shadow screamed out, the pain of the last moment too much for him to take. Jasper sat bolt upright in his bed, and walked out to see what was happening.

Jasper slowly moved toward the window curtain, and lifted it off of the window.

And then Shadow felt something smash into the back of his head, and everything went black.

Slowly, very slowly, Shadow saw figures moving around in front of him, but then realised it was only his eyes playing tricks on him. He blinked rapidly, and saw a white ceiling, with a light hanging down from it. He sat up, and realised that he was on a king sized single bed, covered in a white mattress. He looked around at the room he was in, it had a Persian rug next to the door, a closet, a window, which when Shadow tried to open wouldn’t budge (Even a moonsault dropkick wouldn’t do the trick). Shadow tried the door, but it was locked. When he tried it, Shadow noticed there was a note hanging from the handle. He took it off the handle and read it aloud.

Shadow Demon
Mr. Brown would like you to join him for dinner...dress nicely?!

Shadow Demon laughed madly, shaking his head, before stomping over to the closet, and throwing its door wide open, so that it smacked against the white, hard wall. Shadow grabbed the suit that this ‘Mr. Brown’ had chosen...and then suddenly it clicked. This was Rouge’s first man. The man she had had Jasper with. What did he want with Shadow? Did he know that Tara was dead? Shadow sighed.

Things would be a lot easier if this damn kid had never even made it out of the cavern he’d come out of...

Shadow felt around in the suit, and found a key in the hip pocket. Unfortunately, it was tied to the material. Shadow sighed, and then laughed, thinking at how Mr. Brown thought he could get him to wear his little black suit. Shadow grabbed the key, holding onto it, and walked over to the door, sliding it in. He turned it and the door opened revealing a huge winding staircase that winded down from where he was to a large room with a long, wooden dining table in the centre of it. It was all lit up by a large chandelier in the middle of the room, hanging above the dining table. It truly was a great mansion, almost as good as Boo bears!

Mr. Brown
Ah, Mr. Langdon. Would you be so kind as to join me?

Shadow Demon saw the Mr. Brown sitting at the head of the table, motioning for him to come down. Shadow Demon laughed manically, through the suit which Mr. Brown wanted him to wear off of the staircase, and then jumped onto the railing of the staircase, sliding down it. He laughed madly as he did, before jumping off the end of the stairs, and flipping into the chair that sat at the opposite end of the table from Mr. Brown.

Shadow Demon
Sure thing, brown-eye!

The so called Mr. Brown had a pock-marked face, short hair, and wore black glasses. He had a black suit on with a grey tie, and was straightening it just at the moment. He must have missed Shadow’s glorious entrance, because when he looked up he didn’t seem the least bit impressed.

Mr. Brown
Mr. Langdon, I’ve been waiting to see you for...some time, now...

The way he talked was strange, very business-like, as if he was the boss of the company Shadow was working for, and Shadow had just done something wrong. Despite his eyes being hidden behind the glasses, Shadow could tell that they were boring into his right at this moment, watching his every move. How could Tara have fallen in love with a guy like this?

Shadow Demon
Well same goes for me Brown ol’ buddy, howzabout we clear a few things up first, and you tell me your first name so I don’t havta keep callin you ‘Mr. Brown’?

Mr. Brown didn’t even flinch.

Mr. Brown
You don’t need to know my first name, Mr. Langdon, and I don’t need to know yours...

Shadow Demon
Alrighty, FINE let’s just cut to the chase. I know you’re Tara’s first squeeze, and the one she had Jasper with, so just cut the bullshit would ya?

Mr. Brown almost seemed surprised. Almost.

Mr. Brown
...Indeed Mr. Langdon, indeed...but, how do you know all this exactly, Mr. Langdon?

Shadow wanted to scream at Mr. Brown and tell him that he had his son and wasn’t giving him back for the life of him, but he couldn’t. This might be why Mr. Brown was even with him now, because he wanted his son back. Shadow wondered if Mr. Brown knew that Tara was dead, and how they got separated. Shadow grinned and replied casually.

Shadow Demon
I just hear stuff ya know...

Mr. Brown stood up at once, a gun in his hand, and pointed it at Shadow’s head from across the table.

Shadow Demon
Woah, easy...

Mr. Brown
TELL ME WHERE WIFE IS NOW!!

Shadow Demon’s mouth fell open, completely shattered at the fact that Rouge had indeed had another man before him...prehaps even at the same time as him! Either way Mr. Brown had lost his cool, and quite easily at that. But that wasn’t hard to do when you were face to face with the man who you thought had your wife held hostage, or something like that...

Shadow Demon
Mr. Brown, please...

Mr. Brown suddenly grabbed the dining table with both hands, and, with amazing strength, lifted it off of the ground and threw it through the window of the mansion, the glass shattering on impact, as the dining table fell out of view. Before Shadow had time to even think about reacting, Mr. Brown had one hand around his neck, and the other pushing the gun into his forehead.

Mr. Brown
TELL ME WHERE SHE IS NOW!!

Wait a second...does he already have Jasper? Shadow thought. That must be why he isn’t asking him for Jasper as well, only Rouge. It was hard for Shadow to speak, let alone tell Mr. Brown the truth, but he had to, otherwise Shadow could expect torture and perhaps even death.

Shadow Demon
She...is dead...

Mr. Brown, for a split second, appeared to believe him, but then his eyes narrowed, and he pulled Shadow off of the chair, and threw him across the room with freakish strength, causing Shadow to slam into the wall across the other side of the room, shattering a picture, which was coincidentally of Mr. Brown and Tara holding baby Jasper. Shadow Demon groaned on the floor, among the shards of glass from the picture frame. That was when he saw what the picture was of, and his eyes widened. But he didn’t have time to look at it closely, because Mr. Brown was on top of him, this time he landed two straight punches to Shadow’s jaw, before pressing the gun up against his head again.

Mr. Brown
Don’t lie to me, Mr. Langdon, or your death with be long...and painful...NOW, TELL ME WHERE SHE IS!

Shadow Demon
SHE’S DEAD MAN!

But this time Shadow saw the punch coming, and grabbed it with his right hand. Mr. Brown then tried to hit him with his gun, but Shadow grabbed that with his left hand. Mr. Brown stared at Shadow, who headbutted him twice, forcing him to let go of his arms. Mr. Brown obviously didn’t know that he was a great brawler...Shadow pushed Mr. Brown off of him, before kicking the gun out of his head, sending it sliding across the floor. Mr. Brown charged at Shadow, but Shadow fended him off with two quick jabs and then a punch to the gut, staggering him. Shadow then tried for a kick to his side, but Mr. Brown caught it, and landed two hard punches to Shadow’s chest, before slamming his elbow into Shadow’s leg.

Shadow cried out in pain, but was able to duck a right haymaker, and kick out Mr. Brown’s legs from under him, causing him to crack his head on the hard, marble floor. Shadow looked down at him, and saw that he was out cold. Shadow staggered back, and then rested against one of the pillars that came down from the roof to the floor. Shadow sat down, still resting his back on the pillar, as he heard the sound of a door opening upstairs. Shadow looked up, and saw him.

Jasper.

He stared down at the scene, before his eyes lit up at the sight of Shadow.

Jasper
Shadow Demon!

He rushed down the stairs, before running up to Shadow and hugging him. Shadow groaned as he did, still hurt from the fight.

Shadow Demon
Hey there kiddo...

Jasper
Are you ok...what...

Jasper turned around and saw his father lying on the ground, unconscious. Jasper looked back to Shadow, his eyes wide.

Jasper
Did you and daddy have a fight?

Shadow Demon
I guess you could say we had a bit of a tiff...

Jasper walked over to his dad, and started trying to wake him up.

Jasper
Daddy?! Daddy?!

Shadow felt a pit open in his stomach. He just wanted the ground to swallow him up, because there was no way he was going to be able to explain to a seven year old why he’d knocked out his own father. Jasper turned back to look at Shadow, his face full of disappointment.

Jasper
Why did you do that mister?!

Shadow Demon
Listen, Jasper...

Jasper
You’re a bully Mr. Shadow Demon!

Shadow Demon
Kiddo!

Jasper run away, crying, all the way back up the staircase, before reaching the door to his room, and rushing inside, slamming the door behind him. Shadow looked down at Mr. Brown, before slamming his fist into the wall.

Shadow Demon
God fucking damn it!

Shadow slowly stood up, and walked over to where Mr. Brown lay. Shadow kicked him in the stomach, trying to get him to wake up with more forceful methods, but still he wouldn’t wake up. It seemed that Shadow had gotten him out cold pretty well. Shadow shook his head and then walked over to where the gun Mr. Brown had been using lay next to the wall. Shadow picked it up and examined it, and just as well as he did, because just as he did, five MORE Mr. Brown’s burst into the room from a bedroom door...

Well, for all the bullshit you talked during the week Corey, I have to give it to you, you brought your A game to War Games.

But still it wasn’t enough was it Corey?

You went on, about how it was inevitable. At how it couldn’t be stopped, and that it was just a fact.

You, among all people, should know that when you’re going into a match with me that the outcome of the match is never going to be what you want it to be. I know what you wanted at War Games, you wanted to leave me in a bloody pulp in the ring, while you waltzed off with your Undisputed title unscathed. You know that I said?

I said: No.

I beat the shit out of you at War Games, and became Undisputed Champion for the second time of my career, and I’m damn proud of it. Looks like it wasn’t inevitable in the end hmm? I’m sorry; I just can’t help but feel so good about rubbing it in your face, forcing you to shut the fuck up. You see, the difference between me and you Corey, is that I see the value in all people, not just a select few.

You only ever see value in Brenton Cyrus.

Don’t get me wrong, Brenton’s a great guy, but he’s the only person in your life who you seem to care about. Want an example? You know HGR Wrestling? Well, I was having a look at Ron Larsen, who, apparently is my biggest fan, and I realised something. He’s just like you, except you’re a complete copy of Brenton Cyrus, but just a lot worse at your job.

Do me a favour Corey, and don’t fuck with me this week.

Like I said last week, I’m tired of the bullshit.

I’m Shadow Demon.

And I’m going to King of The Throne.
