The Return of God to his City
(A cool wind rips through the streets of the City of Salvation. Old newspapers dance down the alleyways and narrow streets, being carried on by the wind. High above the City streets, the stars in the night sky above burn red and even the moon has turned a blood red color.
The camera then turns to show a solitary figure standing atop the battlements of the City walls. He is in all black robes and his hood is pulled up over his head, masking his face in shadow. The figure is looking out into the wasteland that surrounds the City, glancing at the watch on his right wrist every now and then. Suddenly, an object is seen flying in the skies on the horizon.
The figure reaches up and takes down his hood, revealing the smirking face of Corey Casey. Corey watches the dot grow in size and his smirk widens as he hears the sound of the helicopter blades cut through the silence of the night. Corey casts his gaze up into the heavens above…and lets out a soft laugh when he sees the moon and the stars above darken to deep red as the helicopter crosses over the City walls.
Corey turns and walks down the stone steps leading down from the battlements of the wall. Corey then quickly navigates the narrow streets of the City of Salvation as the helicopter flies over the City and begins to descend in the courtyard in front of the House of God. The house had been the first thing that had been repaired after the attack and, when it came time to put a statue on top of the house, Corey had made sure that the contractors and sculptors knew exactly what statue to place on top of the house.
Corey laughs wickedly; they had been so confused when he had instructed them to place the statue on top of the house once more. Needless to say though…they had quickly seen the errors in their ways after some convincing by Corey and Steven. Corey had made sure to cover the statue with a black silken cloth until the time to unveil it was right…it was just too bad that the sculptors and the construction works could not be trusted…Steven had made sure that they were…unable…to repeat the subject of the statue to anyone…ever again…
Corey reaches the courtyard in front of the House of God and has to shield his eyes from the dust and dirt being kicked up by the helicopter as it touches down on the grass of the courtyard. Corey walks over to the helicopter, making sure to keep wide of the spinning helicopter blades. The blades whirl to a stop and the pilot jumps out of the helicopter and opens the other door of the chopper.
A tall figure in a black leather trench coat and jeans climbs out of the chopper. On the man’s face, a gas mask hides the identity of the man. The figure grabs the pilot by the shoulder and whisper something in his ear. The chopper pilot nods his head and climbs back into the chopper to await the return of the masked man.
Corey watches as the man turns and faces him. Corey can feel the man’s eyes piercing his soul, looking deep into the empty cavity where Corey’s heart once was and weighing the deeds of Corey’s recent past.)
(Corey bows his head and goes to place his fist over the spot where his heart had been but the figure standing before him nods his head no. Corey looks up at the masked man, a confused look on his face)
Corey Casey
It has been a long time since the…
(The figure closes the distance between Corey and himself in the blink of an eye and grabs Corey by the throat. Corey feels the figure’s strong fingers wrap around his throat, cutting off the next word about to escape Corey’s mouth before he has a chance to say it. From within the mask, Corey hears a muffled familiar voice)
Masked Man
None are ready to know of my return…not yet…
(The masked man releases his grip on Corey’s throat. Corey restrains the urge to massage his throat…he knows better than to show weakness in front of the masked man. Corey looks up into the gas mask, trying his best to see inside…to no avail)
Corey Casey
But…everyone can see the stars and moon above. The signs are there for all to see…
(The masked man turns his gaze skyward and takes in the sight of the blood red stars and the deep red color of the moon. An eerie laugh echoes out from inside the gas mask as the figure laughs in the face of the heavens above. Corey feels a chill run down his spine as he watches the man with the gas mask literally laugh at the heavens)
Masked Man
So…the heavens conspire to ruin my surprise…
(Corey suddenly feels a great surge of power in the air all around him. The masked man continues to stare up into the heavens, never averting his gaze from the stars and the moon above. Suddenly, the stars and the moon turn back into their normal silver colors…as if nothing had ever happened. The masked man finally tears his gaze away from the heavens and laughs when he sees the surprised look on Corey’s face)
Masked Man
Not even the stars and the moon will ruin my plans.
(The masked man turns and begins to walk in the direction of the Liberation Arena. Corey stares at the stars and the moon above for another split second before turning and catching up with the masked man’s brisk pace. Corey quickly falls into step at the masked man’s right side.
As the two men walk past Shadow Demon’s house, Corey suddenly feels someone staring at them from one of the windows. Corey and the masked man stop and turn to look at the figure standing in the middle of the highest window.
Shadow Demon stands on the other side of the window, his make-up caked on to his face…giving it an insane look. The masked figure looks up at Shadow Demon and Corey can almost hear the exchange between the two. Shadow Demon never breaks eye contact with the figure, never turns or looks away from the man in the gas mask. Shadow Demon suddenly slightly moves his hands, displaying the knives Corey had given him tucked away into his belt)
Masked Man
Does he still do your bidding?
(Corey looks up at Shadow Demon, watching him from above)
Corey Casey
He does
(The masked man casts one last gaze up at Shadow Demon. Shadow Demon stares back, his bloodshot eyes portraying no emotion at all. The masked man than turns and Corey falls into step as the two men head towards the Liberation Arena.
The two men arrive at the Liberation Arena and Corey opens the door for the man in the gas mask. The man walks in and, after taking a few steps into the lobby, turns and looks at Corey. Corey reaches into his robes and removes a set of keys. Corey slides a key into the door and locks the doors of the Liberation Arena.
The man in the gas mask than motions for Corey to follow him up a flight of stairs, leading to the arena its self. Corey quickly follows the man in the mask into the arena proper. The man in the mask stops at the top of the stairs and looks around the arena. Below on the arena floor, a wrestling ring is set up in preparation for Battle Lines. Corey stands to the man in the mask’s right, a smirk on his face)
Corey Casey
She is ready for your return…
(The man in the mask says nothing but quickly walks down the stairs, towards the ring. Corey quickly follows the man in the mask down the stairs. The man in the mask doesn’t even stop as he approaches the barricade, he simply jumps over it and slides into the ring. Corey follows suit, jumping the barricade and sliding into the ring behind the man in the gas mask.
The man in the mask stands in the center of the ring, looking around at the rows of empty seats and the banners hanging from the ceiling above. Against the back wall of the Liberation Arena, a black banner hangs with a blood red cross displayed on it. Under the cross, the question “Ask yourself one question: are you saved?” is painted in white.
The man in the mask takes off his leather trench coat and climbs one of the turnbuckles. Corey watches as the man reaches up and unstraps the gas mask. The man in the mask drops the gas mask, which bounces off the ring apron and falls to the floor. The man then spreads his arms wide, doing his God pose. When the man turns around, Corey’s smirk widens as he sees the wickedly smiling face…of Brenton Cyrus. Brenton stares directly into Corey’s all white eyes, his smile widening)
Brenton Cyrus
You have done well in my absence
(Corey bows his head, his blonde and black dreadlocks falling down around his face. Corey places his closed fist over the spot where his heart should be)
Corey Casey
I have done only what I know you would do…my God
(Brenton climbs down from the turnbuckle, never taking his eyes away from Corey Casey)
Brenton Cyrus
Did you have doubts?
(Corey raises his head, giving Brenton a quizzical look)
Corey Casey
Doubts my God?
(Brenton walks over until he is standing in front of Corey Casey. Brenton’s smiling face doesn’t fade or falter a single bit)
Brenton Cyrus
Doubts…did you doubt me as your God? Did you doubt me even when I invaded this city and rescued Chuck Matthews?
(Corey looks into the eyes of his God, his face showing a look of determination and resolve)
Corey Casey
Never once my God. I was a bit confused at times, especially when you invaded the city with the traitor Nick Ridicule at your side along with Ryan Apollos…but I never lost faith.
(A smirk appears on Corey’s face as he stares into the eyes of Brenton Cyrus)
Corey Casey
For God always has a plan for the greater good of Salvation
(Brenton Cyrus continues to stare at Corey Casey searching for any sign of weakness or doubt. Corey’s gaze never falters, he meets Brenton’s stare with a calm and confident stare. After a moment, Brenton breaks the stare and extends his arm…motioning to the arena around them)
Brenton Cyrus
Tell me my friend…do you remember City of Evil?
(Corey laughs; did he remember City of Evil? It was a night he would never forget as long as he lived)
Corey Casey
I remember it like it was yesterday my God
(Brenton laughs harshly, the sound echoing around the arena)
Brenton Cyrus
It is fitting this place is called the Liberation Arena. For it was in this arena that I truly liberated you from the influence of Ryan Apollos. It was in this arena that I took you from being the “Celtic Hand Grenade” and I completed molding you into my image. And it will be in this arena…
(Corey closes his eyes, visualizing himself standing over a bloody and beaten Jason Hawk…holding the Undisputed Title aloft for all the followers of Salvation to see)
Brenton Cyrus
It will be in this arena that the Lord will liberate the Undisputed Title from Jason Hawk.
(Corey opens his eyes and bows his head once more)
Corey Casey
Thy God’s will shall be done
(Brenton turns and looks at Corey for a moment. Corey can tell that Brenton is debating saying something in his head)
Corey Casey
What troubles you my God?
(Brenton once again stares dead into Corey’s eyes)
Brenton Cyrus
You must not fail. The fate of Salvation rests on your shoulders…everything that I have worked for, have strived for…everything that Salvation has achieved…rests with you. Corey…you must…not…fail!
(The typical Corey Casey smirk of confidence melts off of Corey’s face. The familiar smirk is replaced by a look of determination)
Corey Casey
I will not fail. Salvation will continue to thrive in NLWF for a long time to come
(Brenton smiles at Corey)
Brenton Cyrus
Indeed it shall…but there are other important matters I need to discuss with you. The real reason that I returned to the city, the real reason why we are standing here in this ring tonight, and the real reason why I have returned to Salvation’s warm embrace…
(Corey gives Brenton a confused look. As soon as Brenton opens his mouth the promo cuts to static)
The Match
NLWF has finally seen the event that I have been preaching about since the “murder” of Brenton Cyrus at the hands of the traitor Nick Ridicule. The return of the Savior to lead Salvation once more. Brenton Cyrus has returned to Salvation, returned as our God, to lead us into the New Dawn that I promised when I first took the reigns of Salvation…
-and his first command is that I go bird hunting-
God has commanded his loyal follower, his friend, his brother in arms to liberate the one title that has eluded him his entire career…the Undisputed Title. Not only did he command me to take that title from your cold dead hands Hawk…I have the entire fate of Salvation in the palm of my hands.
-Salvation’s future vs. Jason Hawk’s Undisputed Title-
Ever since this match was announced, you have been strutting around…saying that you are going to be the one that ends Salvation forever and that you are going to be the one to take down the Lord. This is amusing to me…mostly because it is like you have already completely written me off and have moved on to the next opponent…
-Wow Hawk…here I was thinking you were better than that-
Clearly I was wrong about you. Because you seem to have your head stuffed so far up Nick Ridicule’s ass that you have begun adopting his match preparation tactics. Hawk…let me make this perfectly clear to you…
-I am not some Ryan Apollos that you can simply kick to the curb-
I won’t go into who I have beaten and the titles I have won…we have all been there and heard that out of me haven’t we? Instead I am going to point out two very important, very crucial facts that you seem to be over looking here…
1.) We are fighting for a major title in the City of Salvation
2.) Our match? Is a Street Fight match
-I will give you a moment to process what those two facts could mean for your future well being-
Give up yet? Clearly you not only can’t type…or speak…but also apparently you need to have everything fucking spoon fed to you as well. Maybe that is why Nick likes keeping you around, he gets to play daddy to the little baby Hawk and spoon feed him every little tiny thing.
-Anyways…on to fact one: we are fighting for a major title in the City of Salvation-
You know Hawk…this one fact alone should concern you. It was in the City of Salvation that God himself bestowed upon me the World’s Heavyweight Title. It was in this very City in front of thousands of loyal followers of Salvation that God awarded me my very first World Title…a title that you have still yet to win might I add…
-Fact number 2: our match is a Street Fight match-
Street Fight means there are no rules…and what was it that Ryan Apollos has learned over and over again when he is facing me?
Hawk…facing me in a match with no rules is like willingly walking into a fucking slaughter. I don’t just hurt you…I make you bleed…I break you down into little tiny pieces…long story short: I FUCKING KILL PEOPLE!
-“But Corey, I’m a member of Genocide! We are all the champions and Salvation doesn’t have any!”
This is true Hawk…Nick Ridicule is the NLWF Champion, the Notorious No Show/the Notorious Drug Addict is the World’s Embarrassment…I mean World’s Champion…and Jason Hawk is the proud Undisputed Champion. But Hawk, the real issue here is…how do you kill a God, a Lord and an Emperor? This isn’t even getting into the fact that Genocide is going to be having a fucking world of problems after Battle Lines…
-Let me explain to you how Genocide is going to fail before it even gets off the ground-
Nick Ridicule vs. the Notorious No Show is already booked for Battle Lines. Which means, after Battle Lines, one of those men is going to be without a title while the other is going to have two titles…his title, and the title of his opponent…
-Are you seeing the inevitable conclusion yet Hawk?-
KID loses to Nick, KID gets high and pissed, and KID betrays Genocide for a chance to get his title back. KID no shows the rematch, shows up the next week with Scott Hall (both are still high from last week) and tries to do anything he can to get “his” title back. Unfortunately for him…God is the next one in line for the World’s Title. Nick gets pissed, sends you to go and take care of KID…
-Wait…aren’t you two tag team champions?-
Well…that could certainly be awkward now couldn’t it? Not to mention that you will be without your Undisputed Title and the Tag Team Title will be the only thing that you have left…
- [insert the sound of a toilet flushing here] -
That’s the sound of Genocide dying the week after Battle Lines. Another failed fairy tale of a group that tried to kill off Salvation. I am proud to say that…it is all going to start with the 10 CC’s of ass whooping I am going to hand you at Battle Lines. So Cyrus Wrote it…So it shall come to pass…Quoth the Lord…
