Conversion: The Night that Changed Everything
-16th of April, 2002, 7:05 PM, Broken Hand Road, Iowa-
Rob turned down a right turn in his car. He was travelling down Broken Hand Road to the cafe that he and Veronica were going to meet up at. He couldn’t wait to see her again, as they’d had to wait until the weekend to see her again, as she’d been busy working her second job as a hairdresser. Rob had just continued working for the Iowa fighting nation, but couldn’t stop thinking about her, so he’d been distracted. Eventually he pulled into a park in front of the cafe, turned off the car and got out. He walked up onto the sidewalk, and then opened the door to the cafe he stepped inside and was greeted with the sound of people casually mingling and eating, and chef’s cooking food in the kitchen. He walked passed a few people sitting and eating before walking up to the counter.
Rob Langdon
Uh, hi, I’ve got a reservation for two?
The waitress checked the reservations list before looking back up at him.
Waitress
Ok, I’ll show you were you’re seated.
He followed the woman out and around various tables until she stopped at one table that had two chairs on opposite sides, it was close to the window and Rob liked it.
Waitress
Here you are, I’ll be back to get your orders later on.
Rob mumbled thanks and then sat down in the seat closest to the window. He didn’t need to wait too long before Veronica came in. She was wearing a black dress and black slippers. She had a necklace on, and a little makeup. She looked perfect. She looked around before she saw Rob waving at her, and she came and sat down in front of him. As she did, Rob could smell the heavenly scent of her perfume.
Veronica
Hey there, Rob.
Rob Langdon
Hey, how are you?
Veronica
Yeah I’m good, I’ve had a long week though. Nice to relax here for a change.
Rob Langdon
Yeah, I’ve been busy myself...
And so started another good talk, Rob felt like he could sit there for hours on end just talking to her. As they were talking they were served drinks and they ordered their meals. Then, once they had finished they began walking home. They were only a few meters along when Rob looked at his watch and saw that it wasn’t that late. Then he had an idea.
Rob Langdon
Hey, why don’t you come back to my place? It’s not that late...
Veronica
Uh...yeah, sure I guess.
Rob Langdon
It’s just this way.
Rob cut across the street, and Veronica followed him. As they walked to his house, Rob could sense that Veronica was acting different than before. She now seemed more anxious than before, and when Rob asked her what was wrong she just said that she was a tad cold. Rob was unconvinced, of course. He had no idea why she’d be anxious at all, was it the fact that they were going to his place? Or was it because she was wondering why he’d suggested they go to his place? He decided he would ask her when they got to his place. Eventually they did. His house wasn’t much, it was a rented out place after all, but it was something none the less. Rob opened the door and Veronica followed him in.
Rob Langdon
Not much to see I know, haha.
Rob said as he walked in. Veronica let go a laugh that Rob could tell was forced.
Veronica
Well, I wouldn’t say that. It’s kind of...cozy.
Rob smiled.
Rob Langdon
Please, take a seat. Would you like something to drink?
Veronica
Um, yeah, that’d be nice.
Rob could tell that she was still anxious as she sat down. As she did she started looking through her handbag, until she found her phone. She stared at it worriedly, as if she was expecting a call. Rob didn’t say anything though, just got out some wine and started pouring the drinks. Rob looked up at her as he poured the drink, saying nothing. Then polyphonic song beeped out of Veronica’s phone.
Veronica
Oh, I’ll just take this.
Veronica walked to the door, and opened it and walked outside. As the door shut closed behind her, Rob could hear raised voices coming from where she must’ve been talking. This isn’t good, he thought. Just as Rob finished pouring the drinks, and sat down at the table, setting them down, Veronica came back in through the door, obviously flustered.
Veronica
I’m sorry to go so soon, but I’ve really got to go, something has come up. Uh, sorry.
Veronica grabbed her bag, and dropped her phone into it.
Rob Langdon
Ok, I guess...
Then suddenly, a car pulled up in front of the house. Veronica looked shocked, and mumbled under her breath:
Veronica
Shit! I didn’t realise he was in the car...
Rob Langdon
What the?
Then, before Rob knew it, a big tall man, who was bald, pushed open the door. And he didn’t look happy.
Tall Man
What the hell, V?! You said you’d be back a fucking hour ago!
Veronica
I’m so...
Tall Man
And who is this guy? Are you cheating on me, you slut?!
Veronica looked desperately at the tall man and then back at Rob. Rob was angry too-how could she be two timing him? She seemed so innocent, so nice! Then the tall man ran at her.
Tall Man
Come here, you bitch!
As he did, Veronica started to run, but there was no way she was going to get away from him. But then, Rob dived, and spear tackled the man to the floor. No sooner had he done that than the man let forth a torrent of swear words, and punched him in the gut so hard that Rob thought he was going to throw up the contents of his cafe dinner. The man then picked him up, and threw him onto the table, which caused Rob to slide along it, and knock the two glasses of wine off of the table, so they shattered on the floor. The tall man then stalked through the house, looking for Veronica. That night, Veronica died. She was killed via assault, assault by the tall man. But that tall man died tht night as well, via gun shot. And it was he, Rob, who had done the honours that time.
It went something like this: The tall man found Veronica in the kitchen, and even though Veronica stabbed a knife into his arm, it still wasn’t enough to stop him beating her to death. Veronica was unrecognizable after the beating. Rob, who had grabbed his gun from its secret hiding place (in his underwear draw), walked in, and then saw Veronica lying on the floor, blood streaming from her mouth. Rob then looked up at the tall man, who was laughing evilly. Rob had then lifted the gun, and shot him straight in the head. The tall man had fallen down, blood dripping down his forehead. Rob buried both the bodies, and never spoke about it again. He got lucky though, Veronica’s parents were both dead, she had no family. The tall man’s family couldn’t care less-they were all drug abusers and alcoholics. None of them cared about their son. The police never found out about it either.
But this was the incident that changed Rob into a people hater. He rarely spoke to people, and there was only one person who he helped after that. Brenton Cyrus. He kept acting this way, until he was taken into the asylum (and of course you all know about that).
-Present day, 11 PM, The Salvation Hospital, Tara Langdon’s Room-
Rob was so happy that now things were so much better. Well, they were, he thought, until now. He’d kept holding Tara’s hand the whole time he’d been thinking about the incident. Occasionally a doctor came in to check up on her, but never stayed for long. What was there to check up on? All they were waiting for was her to go in cardiac arrest. Rob laid his head on her stomach, and held her hand tightly. Then he turned his head and whispered.
Rob Langdon
I’m so happy I have you.
Then he kissed her stomach, and laid his head back down her. After a few minutes, Rob began drifting off to sleep. Just when he was about to fall asleep, a voice awoke him.
???
Rob?
He opened his eyes, and turned his head to see Tara looking back down at him.
Rob Langdon
Oh my god, Tara! You’re alive!
Tara Langdon
Yeah, why wouldn’t I be?
Said Tara as Rob kissed her forehead.
Rob Langdon
You fell into a coma after we made the trip back to the city, and you stayed in it for ages. Babe, you could have died?
Tara Langdon
Well, I guess I do feel like I’ve just woken up from a massive sleep. Are you sure I wasn’t just asleep?
Rob laughed, and bent over and hugged her.
Rob Langdon
I’m never letting you leave me again.

Brenton, you’re my idol. You’re an awesome performer, and the best wrestler I have ever seen. When I first joined this wonderful wrestling federation, I never dreamed that I would be up there alongside you in the main event category. Because of course, back then, the main event scene was dominated by people like Johnny Styles, Cyber Punk, Joe Santiago, and yes, (shudder) Tails. But we rose to the top, and look at us now. We are at the top. And you know it’s always going to be a great match when two of the top guys are facing off. And you and me are both in the top 5 of NLWF, we represent two of the best known wrestlers in this fed. It’s been a huge ride for me ever since I joined this federation, and yes there have been highs and lows, but that just adds to the thrill of the ride doesn’t it?
:Anyway, to the match:
Shadow Demon
I’ve been feeling very weird about this match, as if there’s is something I’m missing, something I’m unaware of. But still, I can only wait and see about that, what I need to do right now however is prepare for the challenge that is you, Brenton. You’ve won so many matches it isn’t funny, and I’ve seen nearly every one of your matches. Sometimes I sit at home, and watch your and my matches on TV. Although, sometimes I tend to skip watching the Resurrection of Respect one, because, well...you know why. Of course I like watching the Freedom title match, where I won, but the match I like watching the best, for some reason, is the last man standing match on the Legacy after ROR. It’s one of my personal favourites because I can see that we both put our all into that match, neither of us underperformed, and that’s the reason, I think, why it ended in a draw.
:But I hope to have a new personal favourite after this match:
Shadow Demon
As I’ve said before, I want this match to be an awesome one. I need it to be awesome, so I know that we both gave a hundred and ten percent. I want this match to be better than both of my previous PPV championship matches, better than the one when I won this title, and better than the one that I defended it. Sure, both those matches were great, but I felt it was missing something, and I’m sure this match won’t be missing anything. Brenton, are you ready for this? I certainly hope you are, and make sure you bring all you have, because I know I will. Legends of The Fall will be a night that changes NLWF, but I’m looking to keep one thing constant after Legends’: me being Undisputed Champion. I fought through wars for this title, and I’m ready to fight through another one. I’m going to prove everyone wrong, I’m going to give a hundred and ten percent, and I’m going to give up til the last punch is thrown.
