A Master Plan...
Chuck sits on his sofa, staring ahead at Bridget, who sits cross-legged on the chair across from him.
Bridget Baker: “What happened to you, Charlie?”
Chuck Matthews: “What do you mean?”
Bridget Baker: “You aren’t the same man you once were.”
Chuck Matthews: “Oh, congratulations. How long did that take you to figure out?”
Bridget Baker: “I don’t think the change was for the better.”
Chuck Matthews: “Oh? And just how exactly have I changed?”
Bridget Baker: “The Charles Matthews I know would try his best at everything. He would do what’s right.”
Chuck Matthews: ‘And I don’t?”
Bridget Baker: “The Charles I know would never look to take the easy way out.”
Chuck Matthews: “Nothing against the Charles you knew, but where did that ever get him?”
Bridget Baker: “Chuck…”
Chuck Matthews: “Think, Bridget. When did doing the right thing ever help me? You know where that got me? It got me a knife in my gut. It got me disowned from my family. It-”
Bridget Baker: “Led you to me.”
Chuck Matthews: “That’s not fair.”
Bridget Baker: “Chuck…You may hate Hazard, and he may have tried everything in his power to ruin everything you’ve worked so hard to get…but he had the right idea. He knows, just as you and I know, what you used to be. He’s seen you fall deeper into this life, this persona that you’ve made for yourself. Why?”
Chuck Matthews: “Let me put this in simple terms for you. I enjoy my success. I’m very proud of the things I’ve done. I will keep this position at any cost. If that means blowing up a church, fine. If that means I need to step on a few people along the way, fine.”
Bridget Baker: “But it’s wrong.”
Chuck Matthews: “Bridget…you don’t understand. I am, without a shadow of a doubt, the smartest man in NLWF today. And all this time, I’ve been ignoring my advantage over everyone else. I’ve relied too much on physical strength. On charisma. Now…I’m at a new peak. Bridget, it may look like things aren’t going my way right now…but truth is, everything has already been calculated, thought up, prepared for. I don’t have the title right now. I’m not even in top contention for it…but truth is, things couldn’t be any more in my favor. Trust me, Bridget. It’s always calm before the storm. I’ll have that title before you know it.”
Bridget Baker: “Chuck, I’m no wrestling expert. That’s your thing…but after hearing your plan…I don’t know. Seems like a step backwards to me…”
Chuck Matthews: “Trust me. I know exactly what I’m doing.”

Chuck Matthews: “For the last week now, I’ve sat back and watched the tape. Mexican Samurai vs. Chuck Matthews. And every time, I can’t figure out for the life of me…how the hell did he beat me?
I was in total control going into that match. Everything was in my favor. Yet somehow, he defied God and beat me. He somehow slipped right out of my clutches and managed to keep me down. And every time I watch it…How did he do it? How did he manage to outsmart me? I can’t find that crucial point. I can’t find that one moment where I made a mistake…But whatever. I’m on the road to taking the belt back…and it starts this week.
Mark Pollak thinks he has everything figured out. But truth is, of everything he’s said this week, maybe one thing was relatively intelligent.
He acknowledged that he’s my inferior. And you couldn’t be more right, Pollak. See, because going into this upcoming pay-per-view…I have a plan. A master plan. And with you in the ring this week, you’ve been volunteered to be a part of it.
Pollak, you mentioned a lot of things. About the things I do, the things that have happened to me…why? Have you noticed that since all this started, my career has only skyrocketed? Three time world champion. Former general manager of Direct Hit…let’s face it, Mark. The reason I’m so successful is the same reason you think I’m such a bad guy. The same reason Swan Lee kicked the shit out of you last week. I’m not tethered by the binds of petty morality. I do what I need to do. You don’t like my methods? You think it’s wrong? That’s nice…who are you again?
But it’s like I said, Marcus ol’ boy. I have a plan. I’ve carefully sat back, watched, plotted, and now, I can take another action. I’m the smartest man in NLWF, Pollak. It doesn’t matter how this match goes. I’m in complete control, whether you know it or not. Hell, almost every match I go into, I’m in complete control. And the only reason my plans don’t always work is because of shits like Mexican Samurai who can pull a win out of nowhere. I don’t understand how the hell he beat me…But it’s fine. A minor setback that is easily resolved.
Sit back, relax, and watch my road to title reign number four. And Mark…enjoy the ride."
